MarinetteOne day.
Was all it takes for my life to fall apart.*flashback*
I woke up to my alarm screaming at me. It was a normal Tuesday, a little windy, but not bad. I started getting ready to go to school, at the time I was in my first year of high school. I went downstairs and kissed my mom goodnight and left.
~
"Mari wait up!" I heard him shout. My best friend. More importantly, my crush. His thick, slightly curly, brown, luscious hair starts flowing up and down as he jogs up to me. His lean, tall, athletic built styled a deep chocolatey brown sweater and black trousers.
Christian
I chased after her. "I told you to wait." I say, faking my irritation.
"well, you're here now." she says, as if it wasn't obvious. Me and her have been best friend since we can remember. She was my neighbor, best friend, but mostly...my first love. She had silky smooth brown hair, olive skin, and the most enchanting eyes I've ever seen. Color of rich chocolate and something a bit more deep. She was stunning. She would never love me the way I love her.
~
"And that class, is how you-" the bell rang, cutting him off. I grabbed my notebooks and headed to the cafeteria. Tuesdays are the only days me and Mari don't see each other until after lunch. Our classes are all different but that makes waiting for lunch more rewarding.
I scan across the overpopulated tables and long lines looking for - there. I found her. She was in the back with a book in her hand and a tray of food in front of her. I stare at her. Moments like these make me question wither or not I'm happy no one has made a move at her or mad no one appreciated her enchanting glow.
"Hey" I say, while making my way to her. "Hi." She said, without lifting her head up to acknowledge me.
"What're you reading?"
"A book about this girl, she has super human strength but since she doesn't know how to control it people outcasted her. Later though, she meets this really loving boy who's also apart of the government and they make a pretty badass team"
I could listen to her for days.
"oh wow." I say.
"yeah. I wish I could experience that one day."
"what, being outcasted? I think you already are. " I tease.
"no dumbass, love."
I could help you experience that.Marinette
After saying goodbye to Christian, I took a turn onto my block. Throughout the walk home something didn't feel right. The wind was too cold, trees were lacking its vibrant leaves, it was just not right. As I fish my keys out of my bag, I realized that there's no sound coming from the inside. Usually my mom plays music and is cooking about now or her and dad are arguing about something. After finally hearing the click, I walk inside. Everything. Was. Ruined. The wooden coffee table was smashed to peices, laying on our used-to-be-white-rug (now red from wine I suppose). The lamppost beside the sofa was torn apart. It was like a rabid animal was set loose inside our home.
"MOM?" I shout.
"MOM WHERE ARE YOU?"
no response.I walk towards the kitchen counter only to see a stack of papers laying over it. The paper at the top read "Divorce Application" oh no. oh. no.
I thought my mother was smarter than this. She's been waiting to file for a divorce when she was financially and mentally stable. I'm going to assume she didn't leave the papers out herself.
I can't breath. The rooms spinning. It feels like the walls are trying to crush me inside.
I pick up my phone and start searching for her contact.
*ring* no response.
*ring* still no response.
and then,
"Hello?"
"MOM OMG, ARE YOU OKAY?"
"yes, hello honey, I am okay."
"The house is trashed"
"I know honey, your um, father hadn't taken things well."
"Where are you?"
"Looking for a place to stay" no no no.
this can't be happening.
"are we going to move."
"Depends on who the court gives custody to."
"It can't be him. nope. no no no. I'm not living here without you"
"well then we might need to move. I'll to find something, maybe for apartments around here so you can still go to school. Okay?"
"okay."I can still feel my heart running out.
I don't know what to do.
what to feel.
if I can feel.
I can't.I start backing up against the wall, slowly crawling down and forming myself into a human ball. I call Christian. I don't remember how or when I did, all I know is that the next thing I feel is his arm around me. Cradling me.
