As she stood there in the doorway she didn't know what to do.
Turn back. Turn back.
The voice in her head kept telling her, but, she didn't listen.
"Can I help you?" A girl with auburn hair stood in front of her. She had her doctors lab coat on.
"Uh no it's OK I know my way around." she smiled tightly. The truth was she didn't want help from anyone. She just wanted to be gone, but she knew she had to come.
It is for your good.
She repeated in her head.
"Oh OK then." She watched her walk away to talk to someone else. The woman with the blonde hair. A nurse. She handed her a chart then left, giving her a strange look. As she started walking towards the elevator she heard a laugh. A laugh that was too familiar. She turned waited. The laughter suddenly stopped. She could feel someone staring at her. The feeling quickly left as she heard the footsteps walk away from her and then the elevator doors pinged open. They then closed. She glanced around. Checking. She was safe. She headed to the elevator. Once she pressed the button she waited. Once the doors opened she quickly stepped in and pressed the floor number. She have a sigh of relief. She managed to get there without being seen, well, apart from the perky auburn.
"Hold the doors!" She ward a shout from outside.
"Shit!" She knew she was too late to react when the hand slid between them.
"Thanks" Meredith smiled and checked the floor number, seeing it was her own she looked closer to see if she recognised the person, or if they were just a visitor.
"Visiting someone?" She smiled as the blonde was looking away.
"Mm" she heard a murmur, but that was enough. She'd known that murmur for years, she spoken with her for years.
"Izzie?" Her eyes widened as the blonde turned to reveal the true answer.
"Hey Mer." she smiled tightly, unsure how she was going to react.
"Wha- what are you doing here?" Meredith tried to act calm but was freaking out.
"I eh stopped in to get some medicine, because my local hospital ran out." she smiled.
"Are you OK?" Meredith scanned her body seeing no obvious injuries so she could only think of the cancer.
"Eh yeah fine." Izzie turned and faced forwards wanting to get off the subject.
"Iz I know when you are lying" Meredith warned her.
"Look my cancer isn't back I need to get medication because I am pregnant, OK!" She shouted at her, frustrated, but she wished she hadn't shouted now because the elevator doors had opened. And an old friend was on the other side.
"Iz?"
"Alex" she breathed.
"Wha- what are you doing here? Are you OK? I mean I- why are you here?" He started off confused then went to worried but now his mind had processed it all, he was enraged.
"I-I-I'm pregnant." she sighed, she knew she could never lie to him.
"Well that's peachy isn't it!" He looked her up and down now she was out if the elevator. Her hair was down to her shoulders and curled. She had gained a slight bit of weight but that seemed to be the only differences.
"Go to hell Izzie." Alex stormed off to the nurses station.
"Alex!" Meredith ran after him, hoping to calm him a bit.
"Lex are you feeling OK?" Mark put his hand in her forehead.
"Wha- Yes why?"
"You've just- Nevermind."
"No what is it?" She turned around as she held the chart in her hand.
"You're sweating, a lot, and you look super pale." He whispered to her as he didn't want the interns to hear.
"Look we work in a hospital, I have probably just caught something." She went back to checking the charts.
"Where's your ring?"
"What?" She sighed.
"Your ring." he nodded to her hand.
"Oh eh I left it at home cause I didn't want to lose it, Arizona is gonna come over tonight by the way. Help me with some stuff." she smiled and walked off to her interns.
"Walker! You're with me." she turned and walked off, sick of her already.
"Jo!" Alex called over to his friend.
"What now Alex? Are you gonna insult my new boyfriend? Jimmy is really nice and I-"
"Dude I don't give a crap about this guy. I need you down in paeds today. We got that baby Scarlett her lungs almost failed on her again last night and a transplant is coming in tonight so you are on call for the next 24 hours." Alex rambled before running off to the incoming trauma he'd been paged to.
"You're welcome." she huffed before walking down to paeds.
"Becky Valtmen, aged 14. She missed the gap between the bus and curb and the bus ran over her left foot and right hand."
"The door then hit her head! Like hard!" A voice shouted over.
"Who are you ma'am?" Owen asked once he handed someone the chart.
"I'm her mentor. Sissy."
"What?"
"I'm Sissy, her mentor." the woman stood her large bouncing blonde curls and squeaky voice coinciding with her name.
"Just checking I heard right. You'll need to wait in the waiting room please. Ross! Take her to the waiting room."
"Hey sweetie how ya doin'?" Callie asked trying to distract her from her crushed hand.
"Well I hurt, idiot." The girl snapped at the shocked Callie.
"Oh well we better fix that huh?" She faked a smile.
"Duh, idiot." the girl mumbled I herself.
"Well then. Karev! She's all yours." she smiled widely and whacked his back.
"Crap! She's a bitch isn't she?" He sighed.
"Yup!" She mumbled before heading off to get X-Rays.Short and pretty late sorry bout that! Hopefully next time I will be more inspired! I will dedicate next chapter to the best comment!
