Jungkook POV

May 26th, modern time

-Tijijon (Internet cafe)-

------

The sound of guns firing and people screaming were the only things I could hear. My fingers moved across the keyboard faster than light, my right hand spamming the buttons on the mouse as I desperately tried to stay alive. I had three more bullets and my opponent was almost dead, only a small sliver left on his health bar.

I sprinted towards a fence, ducking behind it as I reloaded my last remaining bullets. I was far more skilled than my opponent and had more health, but the little bastard was very nimble and agile.

It was almost as if time had slowed down as I rushed out from behind the fence and aimed, the red cross lined up perfectly with my opponent's forehead. My finger rushed down to click the mouse when suddenly my screen went blank.

"NO!" I screamed at the computer as it went back to the home screen, a notification that my time had run out in the right corner of the screen. I threw the headphones I was wearing onto the counter and grabbed my backpack before standing up and walking towards the exit.

I looked at the older woman behind the counter at the front of the store and gave her a kind smile. I waved my hand as I exited the internet cafe, rage still bubbling in my stomach. Just one more second and I would've been able to win, one more second and I would've been able to win for the 100th time on that same computer in my favorite internet cafe.

I pushed back my feelings of anger as I crossed the road. After a few minutes of walking, I was standing in front of my house. It was a large two-story house with a basement and attic.

I sighed and got my keys out of my pocket, sorting through them until I finally had the right one in my hand. I unlocked the door and opened it, closing my eyes briefly before entering.

As I entered, all of my memories with his parents rushed back. I reminisced as I walked through the house, stopping at a picture of six-year-old me and my parents.

FLASHBACK

-------

It was the morning of August 31st when I first met my parents. I was only six years old at the time and I had been at the orphanage since birth.

Potential parents and guardians would come and go, always picking someone besides me. I had to watch almost all of my friends get taken to their new homes to start a new, happy life. But in my mind, they left me behind.

I was playing tag with a couple of my friends in the playground when the director of the orphanage ran up to me, a wide smile displayed on her face. I looked at her, confused as she kneeled in front of me. She grabbed my arms gently and said the five words that changed my life forever.

"Jungkook, you are getting adopted."

My eyes widened as I stared at the woman in shock. The same woman that had taken care of me for the past six years. "Really?" I whispered. The director just smiled and nodded her head. "Now come on, you have to meet your new parents."
