Taking up the piece of paper, he went to join Rosalie in Allison's room. He noted that she hadn't torn apart the room the way he had Colson's. He figured it was out of respect. The room was a pale green, tidy with posters and pictures decorating the walls. His heart clenched as he took it in. Rosalie stood in the middle of the room. In her hands she held a black journal. The expression she wore was a mixture of intrigue and sadness. This only served to peak his interest. "What do you have?" Dropping her gaze back to the journal, she opened it to the middle.
"We already knew that she dabbled in songwriting. The journal is chalk full of lyrics and ideas. I skimmed a few. Each was as depressing as the next. That's not the only thing she's written though. Check this out. Drawing his attention to the page, it was an actual entry, complete with the date. He began to read. His attention was snagged on the mention of Tamera. According to her, Tamera had been asking about Colson and that didn't sit well with her. Looking back at the date, it wasn't that long after the Wright siblings had made their move to Clairview.
"Seems you found something of interest as well." As interested as he'd been by the journal he'd momentarily forgotten his own find. Lifting his hand, he began unfolding it. "I tore apart his room. I eventually found this under his mattress." Getting the paper open, it took him a moment to decipher the chicken scratch. As he read it once and again, he knew this was exactly what they needed. "Good thing you tore the room apart. Both siblings point directly to Tamera." Sharing a look, he led them back out.
He'd relay what they had found to the chief, who hopefully gave them the green light to bring Tamera in for questioning. Once back outside, he thanked the guys before sending them back to the station. Climbing into the car with Rosalie, he had her hold onto the paper and journal. Taking up his phone, he made the call. The chief answered on the second ring. "What do you have for me, Tanner?" His eyes shifted to Rosalie. "Pretty sure we hit the jackpot. We found incriminating evidence in both their rooms. Both siblings mention Tamera. I'd like permission to bring her in for questioning."
Receiving the go ahead, he placed his cell in the cup holder, taking the car out of park. "What's your plan? Are you talking to her alone?" Rosalie asked once they were on the road. "No. You're coming with me. We both know how Tamera is. If this turns sour..." She nodded. They had to put into account her mom answering the door as well. Laying eyes on them at this hour, they were not in for a warm greeting. Pulling up to the house, there was only light coming from the living room. Tamera or her mom?
The chance of it being both were slim. Directing Rosalie to put their finds in the glove compartment, they climbed out. "When we get her in the car, we don't speak with her," he ordered. Anything she felt compelled to say, could wait until they were back at the station. Making their way onto the porch, Beau gave the door a few hard raps. It wasn't a long wait when the door opened. Tamera's mom stood before them in a robe cinched tight, her hair in a bonnet and not at all in the mood for visitors. Her eyes moved from one to the other before settling on Beau.
"Now what business brings the two of you about this time of night?" Rosalie spoke up. "We apologize for disturbing you at this hour. We need to speak with Tamera. Please." Folding her arms, she scoffed. "Why's that? The detective here still can't find Allison's killer. Seems to me he's chasing his own tail. My daughter can't possibly be of any more help." A statement. One she was very wrong about. He wasn't going to be baited either. "We would appreciate it if you would allow us to speak with her," he pressed.
Leaving it at that, a stare down ensued. She relented first, as he knew she would. "You going to keep coming around if she don't want to talk? Or show up at the diner?" He didn't reply. As there was no invite to come inside, she left them. Hollering for Tamera, he had no designs on coming back here to be treated with more hostility. If Tamera wouldn't talk to them now, he would haul her in first thing in the morning. As it was, she made an appearance. Her hair was also in a bonnet, wearing an over sized t-shirt and sweats. Irritation radiated off her.
