The job was far from finished. It was equal parts frustrating and motivating. Harris Crowne was going to see it through. Months he and his team had been tracking the notorious drug dealer, Yousseff Rossi. He'd led them to Graze's hometown of Clairview. Where Chief Myles over saw the safety of its residents. It was also now home to Detective Beau Tanner. He had a history with the drug dealer. His first wife had been brutally murdered by him. In the past months, Yousseff had been a puppet-master for a woman by the name of Rita into believing he was in love with her, in order to his dirty work.

The result had been the murder of a young woman, Allison Wright. In total four people had been involved. Rita, Tamera and Colson, who also happened to be the young woman's brother were all locked up awaiting sentencing. The Detective and his new fiance, Loraine Adams had been entangled in the groups workings. Everyone had been grateful when they'd come out of it unscathed. None more so than Rosalie Duvall. Partner of Detective Tanner, Best friend of Loraine and his ex-girlfriend. It had been as much a shock to her as it had been to him to once again lay eyes on each other.

Ten years had changed them. Her shock in that moment had quickly dissolved into anger he was only too acquainted with. It had made for a sharp tongue that Chief Myles had quickly silenced. She'd been made to apologize afterwards. He knew then the struggle he was going to have keeping his mind focused on Yousseff while knowing she was closer than he'd like. Just to burn his curiosity, he'd looked up where she was residing. As it turned out, she was still living in her childhood home. He had thought for sure she would leave too.

He couldn't understand why she would stay and live with their memories. To say their break up had been explosive would be an understatement. It had been devastating. That summer's end before college he'd made a decision without letting her in on it. Or rather, he didn't until the night before he took off. He could still replay that night perfectly. Pulling up to the house, the back of his truck loaded down. He'd only made it halfway to the porch when she came barreling out. She must have been waiting for him.

Tears had made tracks down her face as she looked from the truck back to him. Her anguish turned into anger. Shoving him repeatedly. He'd let her. His actions had made him a cruel s.o.b. but he was going through with it. She'd stopped shoving him to collapse against his chest in heavy sobbing. Begging him to tell her why. The was the moment the night took a nosedive. Their resulting screaming match had resulting in her dad coming out with his shotgun in hand. Demanding he drive the hell off. Doing just that, he didn't dare look back. Unfortunately for him, her tear stained face kept resurfacing in his mind the duration of his drive.

In the ten years since, he'd done well to bury himself in work. Not giving her another thought. That was until he'd learned Yousseff was hunkered down somewhere in their hometown. He'd known her still residing was a possibility. When she'd walked through the door of Chief Myles office looking much the same and yet different in her uniform, he knew he was in trouble. Now that he was going to be here until the matter of Yousseff ended hopefully in arrest, they would have to be amicable.

It was doable for him. Her on the other hand...his train of thought was interrupted by his phone vibrating. Taking it from his pocket, he read the name. Hitting answer, he brought it to his ear. "Sir. Has there been any activity?" Anytime his boss called it was always best to get straight to it and skirt niceties. "Graze. As you know we've been chipping away at Rita and Colson. The woman is proving to be hard to crack. Still delusional and thinking Yousseff is coming to save her. I have half a mind to tell them to just put her in a psych ward.

Colson has been a bit more giving." Harris knew this was how it would go. Colson's current mindset was probably bleak and depressed. Being behind bars had that effect on a person. The guy knew he wasn't getting out. So there was nothing for him to be in dear of losing. "Can we believe what he says, sir? I highly doubt he's even met Yousseff." The drug dealer was notorious and so would be very-select in who he spoke with. A lap dog of Rita's would not be one of them.
