~Abby~
Now today was the day where Connor, Jennifer, Terrance and I attend Jackson's funeral. My stomach is sinking and I start to feel guilt as I step out of the minivan.
Connor grabs my hand and squeezes it, "it'll be fine." He said as we walked towards the big building.
We entered and found our room it was held in. We sat down and people came up to us and told us things like 'we're sorry,' or 'Jackson was a sweet boy.' I know they were trying to make us feel better, but it really just brought me down more.
The announcer thingy started talking as people scurried to find seats, "there's not much I can say about Jackson McNeil, so here is Abby Franta coming to talk about him." He said and smiled at me, a smile that said 'it's okay.'
But was it really?
I smiled and waved to everyone who was looking up at me. I starred down at my blue converse and started talking, "so, Jackson McNeil wasn't my biological brother, he was just my foster brother... But to me, he is so much more. He's more then a little brother and I don't really know how to explain this."
I tapped my blue-painted nails on my black skinny jeans. "Before Jackson passed, he asked for a few things, he asked that people wear some piece of blue with their outfit when they arrived here, and I thank anyone who did. He asked that we donate all his old clothes to charity... And I think that shows a lot about Jackson. He loved to help people, it was a passion of his. He loved it and I loved seeing him happy while he did that. He smiled brightly and his eyes glowed with happiness." I smiled at the thought of Jackson's missed smile, it also brought tears to my eyes.
"But Jackson also asked for me to sing at his funeral. I don't really know why but, here is my song called Mister Jackson and its dedicated to him." I sighed and walked over to the grand piano that a barely knew how to play. Jennifer was a pro at this so she helped me write the song.
My fingers pressed down on the correct keys as I sang the first verse.
'So it's okay, I know your pain.
It's okay if you want to go today.
I wish you the best, Mister Jackson,
As you pass our known world.'
The song was nice and slow, it was perfect for Jackson. I pressed the keys that led into the chorus.
'Dear Mister Jackson,
Please just wait one more day
In the summers of May
Oh, please don't go today
Hang on the night
But it's okay if you leave
But please be strong, oh, Mister Jackson.'
Tears strolled down my cheeks as I sang the lyrics but my voice did not crack.
'We will miss you,
But I guess it's your cue
If you could, please hold on
Remember the summer nights we spent camping on the lawn
Oh, The memories we'll miss'
'Dear Mister Jackson,
Please just wait one more day
In the summers of May
Oh, please don't go today
Hang on the night
But it's okay if you leave
But please be strong, oh, Mister Jackson.'
Then the bridge,
'Please, don't leave Mister Jackson
Don't bring me to tears, Mister Jackson
All my wildest fears have come true
Hold on for one more night
Don't go for the light
Hold on for the fight...
But it's okay, to go
You don't have to be afraid,
Mister Jackson.'
'Oh my, oh my, Mister Jackson
So bright, so bright, Mister Jackson
Oh, oh, oh,
Don't go, please don't leave,
Oh Mister Jackson.'
