"You two know right? You're almost 6 minutes late. Why do you think you have that silver bracelet with a watch engraved in it? This is the 2nd time in two months. Don't make me use the black room again you good for none daughters".
"Yes mama! We'll be careful from now on" - Charlotte in an anxious tone. Charlotte couldn't even give a reason of being late, she was frightened to the core. She didn't want to go through that ever again. "The black room."
Ever since their father's death, Charlotte and Pudding were restricted to wander around the kingdom and were confined within a certain area of the palace by order of the queen. They would be accompanied by Sai and Bon everywhere they were allowed or asked to go. Sai and Bon are the sons of Lord Corrys Dorne - the former hand of the king.
After the king's demise, Lord Corrys was assigned the post of "The hold's watch" - the commander of the unit who guards the great keep of the kingdom of Zorak. (Keep refers to grain and food storages of a Kingdom that holds food sources of a year or so).
"My lady; we have prepared their meals. Five raw carrots and slightly salt sprinkled vegetable soup"
Charlotte and Pudding were also confined to a fixed diet plan by their mother who can't afford them to go out of shape.
"Is this how princesses live?" Pudding bluffs around Charlotte with a tone of disappointment. Well it was only possible during the hour of garden recess when they can talk freely and the "doueteri" are not around them - the doueteri refers to bon and Sai or the "princesses's watch".
They don't hate their mom nor they love her. They are just in a state where they can do nothing but obey her as they believe that the queen's way will help their father's great nation someday.
*Meanwhile at the port town of "Swishwhorl" in the kingdom of Zorak -
*A large cargo ship arrives*
