Rani Hopper was a rude kid.

Not that she always was, just that how she has to be.

She wasn't mean to everyone just the one's she thought as weak, because to her, "You can't live in a world, were there are people who want to do is bring you down. That's why you got to be scarier, than what scares you".

That's what her step-brother, Vance Hopper told her.

Wait, no.

Vance, hated her calling him her step-brother.

"I ain't you Step-Brother, you and I are siblings so from now I'm your brother and your my sister", Vance told her and she didn't mind at all.

Rani's mother was a baker and her stepfather was an alcoholic. He was a jerk to the two kids but especially to Vance. Maybe, that's why Vance was a bully to all but her. Sometimes, she wished, that he had changed because maybe then he would have not regret it later on.

...

North Denver, 1978

Rani Hopper sat on the bench watching her boyfriend, Bruce Yamada play Baseball against the other team.

She only came because of her boyfriend or else she hated everyone there and things made it worse after the disappearance of her brother, Vance Hopper

Bruce knew sighs sadly, seeing that she was not happy. He thought, that watching him play baseball would cheer her up but he couldn't blame her.

Her brother, Vance was dear to her.

Bruce didn't have the best relationship with her brother.

He was a bully and was protective of his sister but Bruce never hated him especially after Rani had talked to Bruce of what the two had gone though.

Just when, Bruce was able to gain Vance's trust...he was gone.

Rani notices Bruce looking at her from the pitch and she smiled at him.

A smile that she didn't showed to anyway except him.

Bruce smiled back swinging hit bat getting ready for Finney to through the ball.

Unfortunately, for him his misses the ball.

Bruce, looks away disappointed and nervous because match was solely for him to impress his girlfriends and make her happy.

Rani witnessing the scene, turns her head to the ground and glances over to Finney's sister Gwen as the girl cheered for her brother.

Rani glared at Finney, he was weak and pathetic in her eyes.

Rani watches at Bruce misses another shoot as she averts her eyes at him ashamed expression.

Rani then grins at the last throw as Bruce hits the ball far but when the ball goes out of bounds she cheers out loud making the rest of the ground cheer for her boyfriend.

But, Bruce only looked at the girl he loved. The two had been dating for 2 years...

He looks at Rani, she had brown caramel skin and long thick black hair.

Bruce read in a book that Rani meant, 'Queen' and with her elegant features and smile no doubt, she was a queen at least to him.

Bruce up to the fence and winks at Rani as she rolls her eyes trying to hide her blush.

"So, did I impress you?", he asked her.

"Just a little", she teases.

Bruce smirks in response and runs off as she watches Bruce celebrating with his team.

...

After the match, leaning against the fence. Rani waits for Bruce to tell the oppose team, 'Good game'.

When, Finney walked to Bruce.

Bruce smiled at the boy as Rani walks up to Bruce as stares ay Finney rudely.

Rani and Finney had a weird relationship, they hated each other but at the same time they didn't.

"Hey man, your arm is mint", Bruce complements breaking the tension.

"But, you still totally bet him", Rani says to Bruce wanting to show off her boyfriend as Finney frowns

"Rani, what did we talk about", Bruce scolds her playfully.

"Yeah, 'be nice'. I know, just saying", Rani says as Bruce puts his right arm around her shoulders.

"You almost had it", Bruce grins at Finney making the boy smile.

Finney walks off as Bruce goes to his teammates holding Rani's hand as his teammates cheer.

...

After, Bruce changes into his casual clothes as he walks out to see his girlfriend waiting for him. Seeing him, she jumps in his arms, "woah!".

Bruce grins as the two kiss and then he swings her around making them both laugh.

"I love you so much, that was awesome", Rani says as Bruce puts her down and smirks, "I love you too. So, did I make you feel better?"

"Yeah, thanks", Rani says sweetly as the two blush.

"Anything for you", Bruce says hugging her as she hugs back.

The two walk closely together, intertwining each other's fingers together as they go up to Bruce's bike.

"Hey, hop on. I'll treat you on a date", he says with a cheesy smile.

Rani smiles drops, thinking of Vance

Bruce, then realizes the meaning of her expression.

Bruce knew, what he needed to do. He looks around, to if no one was there because he knew Rani hated crying in front of others and then he pulls her closer to his chest.

"There's no one here, you can cry as much as you want", tells her soothing her hair.

Rani looks up to him with a blank stare and then buries her face on his shirt as she then starts to sob, "I'm sorry, I probably look pathetic and was so horrible. I just miss Vance so much".

Bruce hugs her tight, "Hey...it's okay. You're going to be alright and your going get through this".

"You're not going to ever leave me, right?", Rani says looking up as he wipes the tears of her cheeks.

"Never, I will always be with you even when you think I'm not", Bruce says gently kissing her forehead.

The two stand there embracing each other in silence, not knowing this may be the last they're ever be with one another.

"Thanks for always being there for me", Rani tells him.

"Always", he responds by kissing her.

After the two pull away from each other, Rani was the first to speak, "I have to go, now. To the police to find out about Vance. Go enjoy your win and say to your parents for me".

"I will, take care of yourself", the boy says getting on his bike.

"You too", she smiles going to kiss his cheek and walking off.

As the boy looks at the girl he loves not knowing what would come to their relationship.
