Chapter 11

I am sitting on a chair next to Leah as she sleeps and I hear the door open, I look up and Andrew is standing there with an arm full of flowers and stuffed toys and I silently laugh, I am about to get up to talk to him "What's so funny?" a hushed whisper comes from the bed "Oh good you're awake" I smile down to her and kiss her forehead "Leah, I would like to introduce my best friend from collage Andrew Thomas but I call him Drew" after realizing that there is another person in the room, she quickly sits up and tries to discreetly fix her hair "Hi there Andrew, I am sorry for my appearance but I think I get a pass considering I just had two humans exiting my virgina" I assist Andrew in placing the items he brought down onto the table and I can see he wants to laugh at her. He walks over the bed and kisses he cheek "Congratulations to you two, when Raul told me that you come back onto the scene and pregnant to boot, I was a little worried about ulterior motives that you may have but I have seen him while you are with him and I can see he's generally happy, so I just want to thank you for that" during his speech she went blood red and I was concerned for a second there, I almost tackled him in the first half, I'm not going to lie "Well thank you for those words, but I think it's a case of making each other happy" she smiles at him "Whoa! Wait a second, is that a huge rock I see on your finger?" he brings her hand to look at it "Oh man, I forgot" I slap a hand against my forehead "Just before all the excitement, I finally managed to get a rock on her finger and a promise to be mine" He beams at us "Finally" and winks at us, I shake my head but I notice that Leah is starting to show her exhaustion "Drew, follow me, I would like to show you my babies" I kiss her again and whisper "Rest" then we both turn to the door and leave the room.

"She beautiful inside and out, I am so happy for you man" I smile at him but then I lose it as I think of everything that she did and what could have gone wrong "I don't know man, I was scared shitless when she was in all that pain and I could do a damn thing to help her" he claps me on the back "That's love my man, if you didn't love her then that pain that she went through would mean nothing to you" I nod and we continue to the nursery's viewing window "There they are, my two babies" I say as I point out the twins who have returned from the NICU for a clean bill of health. "Aw man, they are cute, I don't usually say anything like that about babies because I don't find babies cute, but those two are adorable" I can feel my chest expanding as I feel the love and pride flowing out of me. They only other time I felt like this was when I was in Portugal with my family, that's how I know I have found the right woman.

"Are you ready Mrs. Calisto ?" asks the nurse as she helps me get dressed into normal clothes "Defiantly" I grin at her and she smiles back, she assists me to sit in a wheel chair just as Raul walks in followed by two nurses who push two babies, my smiles just gets bigger as I see my family. We make our way to the hospital doors and are assisted into the car, I sit between the two car seats and make sure the twins and warm and comfortable, as Raul gets into the driver's seat. We literally crawl home and I start laughing "What are you laughing at?" he looks at me in the mirror "I think I could walk faster then what we going at the moment" he just winks at me and carries on driving "My mother was picked up from the airport and will be waiting for us when we get home" that makes me a little nervous and he must pick up on it "You don't need to worry Bela moca, she is a catholic but is a modern woman and understands our circumstances, she'll love you on the fact that you gave her grandchildren, alone" I look at his smiling face and decide to tell him what I'm really concerned about "I am worried that she can't understand me and that'll bring shame to you" I look down. He actually skids to a stop and I look out the window to see that we have pulled over, he turns in his seat to look at me "Bela moca, she speaks English, but even if she didn't, nothing you could do would cause me shame, tell me you understand" I try smile and nod at him "I need to hear you say it" he's looking at me with intent "Yes I understand" he nods and turns back to pull off.

We pull up to the building and Raul carries both car seats while the door man assists with the luggage, "I can carry one" I say as we enter the lifts, he gives me a look as if to say you can't be serious "I will need to carry them both when you're not with us" I point out "I don't plan to leave you any time soon and if I had to, your body guards will assist you" it's my turn to look at him "Wait, body guards?" I smiles down at me "Of course Bela moca, I am a Duque in my homeland" My face must show my confusion "A duke" he translates, I think my jaw fell open "Then what are you doing here?" I laughs "Simple, the title doesn't pay so I had to build an empire" just before I can ask anything else, the lift doors open and a woman rushes into his arms, luckily the babies were placed on the ground during the ride up.
