As things in the Gilbert household was still fragile after Alaric's demise. Leia got some deserved together time with Rebekah. According to Rebekah, the day of the decade dance, Esther had taken over her body, so they spent time together, but unfortunately she had to go.
At later time Leia with Elena were in the room that they were painting. Elena had decided to do it at the last moment. When they were painting Elena's phone ringed and unfortunately it was Alaric, but not the Alaric that they both knew and loved. Both girls were in immediate shock. Leia couldn't believe it. Just yesterday she said goodbye to him, but unfortunately it was just the beginning.
Both of them together were walking in the school, after Alaric demanded both of them to come to school in exchange for him not killing Caroline. Obviously they went without question.
Alaric was sitting at his desk with Caroline staked down to the chair. He heard Leia with Elena enter the school. "Right on time." Alaric mumbled looking at Caroline who looked hopelessly at him.
Leia walked down the hallway, looking around. Both of them heard Caroline crying and Leia started to run towards the noise. Leia with Elena entered Alaric's classroom and immediately noticed Caroline. Her hands were pinned to the table with pencils and in her mouth there was a white cloth soaked with something and if Leia would have to guess she would say vervain, seeing that there was redness around the cloth in Caroline's mouth.
"Caroline." Elena gasped in horror, she turned to Alaric. "Let her go, Alaric!" All while Leia still was shook by Alaric just standing there seemingly alive. But she immediately saw that he wasn't the same Alaric that they were used to.
Alaric pointed towards Caroline. "Free her yourself." While Elena walked to Caroline he turned to Leia. "I was thinking that I would have warmer welcome especially from you. You were so desperate for me to not die."
Leia came out of her trance as she stared at him disgustingly. "I wanted our Alaric to come back and not some disgusting version of him."
As Elena started to gently pull the pencil out of one of Caroline's hands, Alaric stopped looking at Leia and went up to Elena and slammed the pencil back down into Caroline's hand. Caroline screamed as the pain worsened and Elena startled jumped back.
"You said that you would let her go!" Elena exclaimed angrily almost throwing herself at him.
Alaric got in her face. "How many times do I have to tell you, Elena? Stop trusting vampires!" He screamed scaring Elena and Leia, who took a step back.

Alaric dipped the cloth that was in Caroline's mouth into a bowl of vervain. The skin around Caroline's mouth was very red and appeared to had peeled away. Alaric walked back to her.
"No, no more, please, no more!" Caroline pleaded while groaning making Leia got up.
"Alaric, you have to stop!" Leia said not wanting to see Caroline in pain, she couldn't even imagine being in that pain.
Alaric pushed Leia forcefully back into a seat all while Elena sent Alaric pleaded look.
"Sit down!" Alaric shouted. "This keeps the vervain in her system. It's like inhaling razorblades with every breath." Alaric put the cloth back in Caroline's mouth. Her skin began to smoke and burn.
Caroline immediately started to cry and scream in pain. Elena touched her arm in comfort.
"Why are you doing this?" Elena asked desperately.
Alaric looked at Leia. "To make it easier on you when you put her out of her misery." Leia widened her eyes. Alaric picked up the white oak stake and walked towards Leia.
"What?! No!" Elena denied for Leia. Elena knew that Leia couldn't and wouldn't do that.
"Isn't this what you wanted, Elena?" Alaric suddenly turned to Elena. "For me to teach you both how to kill a vampire?" Alaric held out the white oak stake towards Elena. "Well, here's a vampire, Elena. Kill her."
"This isn't what I want." Elena shook her head, as Leia sat there with her mouth wide open. How could anyone that cruel. Caroline hadn't done anything wrong, it wasn't her fault that Katherine turned her into a vampire.
"Of course it is. All those hours you spent training, getting stronger, you could be a hunter, Elena. But you've never actually staked a vampire through the heart." Alaric said as his eyes darkened. To Leia it was like a whole new person, she has no idea how this disgusting person could live inside Alaric, who was caring and good person.
"Why would she want that? Where did it got you?" Leia sarcastically asked him.
Alaric chuckled darkly. "I got off track, I befriended vampires, that was my fault. And from what I came see you both at making the same mistake."
As he finished, he persistently held out the stake as Elena and Leia stared at it.
