It was obvious that they had searched our ship. Things were over turned. Any sign of me on the ship was taken. My extra clothes, my books, and my notes. It was frustrating but just this little action made it obvious I was their target.
Hearth was weird for the next couple days. He woke up before me, He would spend hours exchanging letter with who I didn't know., but a raven frequented Hearth's ship. I worried about him. I felt more lonely in those few days he ignored me than in the years I lived in the castle. I began regretting everything.
One night I bright some food to Hearth's chambers. Some stale toast and stewed meat. I knocked on the door and get no response so i set the food down.
"Hearth, talk to me." u rest my head against his door. "I think this was a mistake. I should just go home and become the lord. You said its too dangerous to go to the island so It's pointless the information I need is there." I stand back up. "I'm lonely Hearth. Stop ignoring me. I miss you. I know I nag at you and act like you annoy me but that's never been how I really feel. I enjoy being here on the ship more than I ever did in the castle. So please. While you take me home let me have fun again." I knock again. "See you tomorrow dragon boy."
"Everly!" hearth opens the door. He looks rough his color was dull, and he looked like he hadn't slept since we left the island.
"Hearth when did you last sleep you look awful." I reach up to feel his head instead he takes my hand and hold it tightly in his. My throat goes dry.
"Don't leave." he squeezes my hand in his. "I feel the same way its better with you here. So stay." he cracks a smile "beside you said you take care of the books for me and last time i check we were still broke."
"Oh is that all you need me for?" I say through a chuckle. "Well, I'll stay then just until you can make enough money to not have to pick up extra work all the time." I say in a know it all way and Hearth laughs then pulls me into a big bear hug. I enjoyed his tight hug that was almost too tight. his excitement made him forget the food on the ground and caused a mess as he kicked it over. He was so excited he lifted me off the ground a bit. I love that hug its warm and it reminds me of my dad the night I came to the castle for the first time.
We continued evading any logic ships it was fairly easy we were a small ship and I knew the Logic's fleets, sailing patterns and captains inside and out. Pare was smart but They had not real clue who they were dealing with. They were too busy testing me on History and Science to remember that I was studying military strategy and memorizing rosters of enlisted knights.
We settled in the dock of Nija's Island. We decide to stay there for a week which means a lot of sneaking around and hiding in the captains courters for me. I had a lead that there was a couple wizards on the island who are always looking for helping hands.
"Where did you learn this?" Hearth says while adjust the hood on my cloak.
"My Babysitter knows a necromancer on this island." I brush his hand away and we head out of the quarters and onto land. "We had to stop by on a trip with Pare."
"You're baby sitter?" heath says through a laugh "they just know a necromancer."
"Well he was technically the Head knight but he acted like a baby sitter so I call him one." I say before rounding down an alley off the main road and away from eyes. We sneak like this until we are safely in the forest.. In the lush rain forests its safer to risk being caught on the main road then face the many different creatures in the forest itself. Though safer from a strictly logical stance we hadn't ended up going that way. We faired our way through the Brush fighting off, creatures, plants and wild animals.
