December is a busy month it always has been every year I've lived in the castle. To celebrate the peace and unity of the 4 lords Pera throws a large party every new year. For as dry and logic driven as they are, Pera enjoyed this party. And the rest for the lords did too they enjoyed each other's company.

I ,however, never enjoyed parties because I always get lumped together with the kids. I'd rather hear the adults talk about adventures, politics, theories, magic, etc. I did not care to talk about kid things like stories, plays, girlfriends and boyfriends. Those things bored me but for Pera's sake I put on a gracious host demeanor and I entertain the other kids. I've done so since I was 10.

We have two ball rooms one which is the smaller parlor where they set up entertainment for us under 18 and the grand ballroom where the adults had their fun. I love the ballroom it was designed by Pera's Great great grandfather and is absolutely refined and elegant. The walls were a sky blue and details were all guilted, the ceiling was painted with the history of our land and the floor was a polished white marble. It was grand. On one end was a Stage where the top Bards will perform in the other were large floor to ceiling mirrors. Not to say the Parlor room wasn't extraordinary, it was just as stunning but I can't help but associate it will 12 year olds running and screaming.

Toward the end of the night when the kids have been sent to bed I sneak out and spy in the adult party. This was my favorite thing I do all year long. The lords ways have this untouchable air about them but seeing them all Let loose is endlessly fascinating. Paqull the ruler of the Strength Kingdom who is the scariest Teifling you'll ever meet but when he's with his wife he is nothing but a doting husband. His wife of course always takes over the stage to relive her glory years as a bard. Dyam the lord of the Democratic kingdom on a normal day is a symbol or order and peace becomes competitive and loud when he's a few ciders down. Davia the queen of the Fate Kingdom is the first to take him up on it despite her normal air of acceptance and mystery. Even Pera spends their time tied to Dads arm lovingly and chats freely with the lords and nobles. I never see that side of them.... never.

The guest start to arrive the day of New Years eve and we have rooms set aside for all the lords and their families. the castle is rather empty with the three of us but during New Years it feels like a full house for once.

First to arrive is Dyam and his son, Nija. The two of them happily greet us and offer an array of tropical fruits and home made chocolate. Dad and I agreed that we would split it 50/50. Both Dyam and Nija were mild mannered men who enjoyed our garden and library and never caused issues during their visits. Nija was like me being groomed to take over the country but he was 19 now so I wouldn't be surprised if his dad doesn't hand the position over soon.

Second to arrive was Davia and her rather large family. She had 2 sons and a daughter and a husband who accompanied her. This was our first time meeting the Princess she seemed fine polite and well mannered but she didn't seem to want to be there which I can't blaim her. The two boys I've met before William is well behaved but Montigue, who is my age, tends to be more mischievous. They brought us some sea glass jewelry as a gift.

Last to arrive is Paqull with His wife and son. His son was also my age and was the spitting image of his dad. Dimitrious and I have never really gotten along his personality is a bit too much for me but his mother, Amour, she was beautiful and warm I love seeing her. She fills a whole room with motherly love and I will often find excuses to sit next to her or talk with her when I can. They gifted us a sword that was master crafted and had an intricate designs on the blade itself. I awed over this blade it was so beautiful.

The night comes quicker than I would like. I'm the first in the Parlor Room waiting to greet the guests. I wear a mostly white tea length dress made from an expensive linen with white and blue flowers embroidered along the bottom hem, sleeves and neck line. It was a long sleeves dress and I wore it with white tights and blue dance shoes. This fashion was what was deemed appropriate for girls under 18. Every girl would be wearing a white dress in the kids room but the boys didn't have this restriction. I watched as one by one kids filled the hall and when the clock hit 7 I began the festivities.
