I was right. My parents searched endlessly for me. Docking of any extended period of time was dangerous sailing in the northern seas were near impossible. But Hearth and I made it through. We had formed a close friendship the last few months just the two of us in sea. We complemented one another well and I'm thankful that I choose to join him. He is the first friend I've ever had.

We spent our meals together we slept in the same room except for the nights he insisted on sleeping in the deck. He loves the stars and the open air. Hearth isn't an eloquent person he likes to barrel into thing, he doesn't take time to weigh his options. On the sea there isn't always time to weigh your options so I understand why he lives this way, though it causes me no shortage of anxiety. I was raised in a home where everything was thought out and studied before any actions were made. It's good for me to have this forced spontaneity.

"Everly! Get up here!" Hearth calls me up on deck. We had set sail to the island hearth mentioned to Pera. we thought if there were no leads to my family on the I'm mainland we would try to uninhabited islands north. There are 3 islands that all seem to be uninhabited. Though admittedly I didn't do much Reacher into them before my journey and now my resources are much more limited. I would give anything for the library back home just to have any bit of knowledge at my fingertips, I had such a luxury and didn't even fully appreciate it.

A lot of little things have me home sick recently. I miss my dads voice when I eat breakfast I miss hearing him tell me about the day's plans. I miss the smell of flowers that came in from our garden. I miss the sweet silence between Pera and Me. I miss the little ways they showed me love. I know my life wasn't bad I didn't leave because I was mad. But I never knew how much I would miss my family.

"Everly? Do you see it?" Hearth calls out to me again. I stared with him at the misty shore and sure enough there was a building sitting just beyond the tree line.

"There's a house?" I walk up to the bow of the ship and try to get a closer look but the fog was thick I couldn't make out any details.

I try to focus so hard I lost sight of everything else around me. I was startled when I hear a ground shaking roar come from the northern side of this island. I had heard replications of this song but never the real deal.

"There are dragons!" I exclaim back to hearth who was lowering our anchor.

"It's a big one from the sound of it." He laughs "no wonder there were so many boats leaving I wouldn't want to hang around a dragon nest."

"You do know you're a dragon." I raise my eyebrow at him. He fakes looking offended then laughed it off.

"Let's get ashore. We can hide out in that house." He leads me to a small life boat at the back of his ship. He gets in then helps me do the same. We lower down to the water and row our wat to shore.

It was chilly and the fog was harder to see through on the shore. I feel a shiver run up my spine. This place my my nerves stand on edge. I couldn't shake the feeling I wasn't alone here. A we slowly made our way inward i swear i could see figures move between trees.

"This place gives me the creeps." hearth says in a whine that breaks the tension.

I quickly shush him as I hear foot steps quicken away from us. I take off quickly after them. Hearth easily matches my stride. We finally catch up with the figure they are standing in the middle of a small village.

She was a woman about my size with long dark hair. Over all she had a grey cast to her. She looks me in the eye and a shiver runs up my spine and a dull ache pulsed in my head.

"Dewdrop." she then smiles and with a gust of wind she is gone. she blew away like dust or a powdery snow.

"Mom?" I feel my hear beat race. she was right there just like my dream.

I look around me at these building they all look familiar. A house where I would play a school building on the end of the road and directly to my left a small cottage. One floor, wooded, roof deteriorated, paint chipping off. On the door there is in innate carving of a dragon. I brush my fingers over it and smile.

"You know this place?" Hearth watches me as I trace the carving.

"I do now." I say opening the door slowly. Its dusty and there is snow covering the floor. Its a plan house with a table for dinners and talking. On it there is a vase now empty. There is a large fireplace and a now tattered rug faded blue and green. There are two bedrooms and in the back tucked away is a small wood stove and washing basin. "This is home."

"It's not much compared to the castle." he peeks in the door. "I..." he looks behind him. "I'll sat out here." he then closes the door behind him.

Standing in this house make my heart ache. I walk over the table and brush my hand across the surface. A sharp pain in my head causes my vision to blur for a moment and I hear the sound of crying.

--

I'm younger now maybe 5 years old. I'm setting the table for a meal an din the back ground I hear my sister crying in her crib.

"Momma she is always crying." I cover my ears with my hands. "I don't want to be a sister anymore."

"Dewdrop don't say that. A woman with black hair and big blue eyes pats my head softly. "You can't say bad things about your family or you'll regret it." she then walks over to the crib by the fireplace and lifts up a small baby. "Besides Daphne has to cry to tell us she needs something."

"We'll I can't wait until she can talk." say going back to my chore.

--

When I come to I'm on the floor next to the table. Under the table is a small quilted blanket. I grab it, its mine. I stand up and hold the blanket close to my chest. It was slightly we from the snow and the colors were faded but i remember my dream. Sitting under the table and holding my sister tightly to me.

"Everly." Hearth crashes in through the door. He looks panicked and his expression changes once he sees me it goes soft. "Oh...you're crying" he says softly

"What?" its in that moment I feel the tears streak my cheeks.

"We need to go." his demeanor changes she goes back to the worried look and grabs my hand. "We can't come back."

"Why?" I look at him confused.

"There are some bad people who have made this their base." he peaks out the door looks left then right then he runs out pulling me behind him.

"Hearth i need more then that." I try to resist but he's using all of his force

"Its for the best trust me." he and I eventually make it to the shore and sure enough there was a larder ship docked not far from our own. "Papillion, He's bad news" hearth climbs into the life boat and reaches to help me in.

"But this is my past. This is what I was looking for." I say looking at his hand then him then the trees behind us.

"Everly. I need you to trust me. If you go back you'll be in danger." he looks at me. My heart sinks when I look at him. He looked genuinely worried.

I take his hand and step in the boat. We slowly make our back. Hearth has me duck down and covers me with my quilt. He keeps eyeing the other ship and doesn't look down at me once. We row up the the opposite side of out shit and he quickly climbs the rope we left ourselves earlier and I follow behind.

This quiet Hearth was new. I had thought I had seen all I could from him then this happened. a panic followed by a silent serious. He was focused and determined and it made me uneasy. I'll press him for more information eventually but for today...

We then sail east.
