Dear Emily,
Prison is so boring. I wish you were here so we could play scrabble like we used to. I don't mean here as in here but more in a visitor kind of way. Remember that time when you found out you were pregnant? And decided to tell me through scrabble. We were so happy that night, Ems. What went wrong after that?
I love you.
David
-When will you get home?
The text on David's screen read. It was from Emily, his beautiful beautiful perfect girlfriend. Whom he had just cheated on with Anabelle. Twice. This wouldn't end well.
Anabelle grabbed his chin, after she was finished putting her clothes on and placed a kiss on David's lips, distracting him enough to take his phone from his hand. He almost complained, but Anabelle drowned his voice in their kiss. Anabelle was no Emily. Emily was tender, sweet, smart. Anabelle was hotheaded, determined, stubborn, that much he knew after sleeping with her. Twice. This was the second time. He had cheated on his girlfriend. With the same woman. He was pretty sure he'd go to hell for this, but he didn't seem to mind so much in that moment.
In a few hours
He replied to Emily's text, once he got the phone back from Anabelle, after a great makeout session, at that. He alsohad to win a tickle fight to do that. Anabelle was no easy opponent. He then realized, Anabelle and Emily had so many differences. Emily was fragile. Anabelle could handle herself well. But Emily was...Emily. She had this calming effect on him, nobody else had. Emily felt...safe. And David really liked his safe zone.
"How about dinner next week?" Anabelle asked him, interrupting their kiss. She had a smile on her face. He couldn't be mad at her, when she was asking him out on a date. An official date. With Anabelle. Did David want to go on a date with her? No. That would be betraying Emily. It was different giving his body away, from giving his heart and mind. But his willpower wasn't as strong as he thought and his mouth ran faster than his mind could, with this amazing girl in front of him.
"Sure. Dinner sounds great. Does Thursday at 8 work for you?" Anabelle's smile reached her eyes and in that moment, David knew he had made the right choice. However he was sure that Emily wouldn't see it like that, so he decided to keep it from her. "I'll wait for you to pick me up, then" Anabelle gave him another dragged out kiss before exiting the bathroom.
David looked at himself in the mirror, but he didn't like what he saw. His reflection now knew a third secret. You know what they say, third time's the charm. In a weak moment he threw his fist right where his face stood in his reflection, smashing the mirror in pieces. David looked down at his bloody hand and then back at the broken glass. He was determined now. He was already keeping a secret from Emily. Another one wouldn't hurt. He exited the bathroom mere minutes after Anabelle did and headed home straight away.
Once he opened the apartment's door, he heard giggles, then a thud and then more giggles. What the fuck is going on? David quickly run to the bedroom where the noices were coming from and what he saw was definitely unexpected. There were Emily and Jane sitting on the hardwood floor with a Scrubble board and letter throen all around it, giggling like crazy. That is weird. Emily doesn't come back till 7 and it's now 5:30. "Hi babe" Emmy said squeezng her lips together making a kiss motion. David instantly understood and so he bended his knees just enough to be able to reach his gorgeous girlfriend's lips to give her a peck.
"Hey. Hi Jane" Jane waved and started giggling again. He was confused but he knew something important was happening if Emmy was missing school, because she never came back early, unless a class was cancelled and they were dismissed for the rest of the day.
Emily must have read his expression, because she answered David's thoughts before he could even voice them. "Professor Dancin was sick so the afternoon classes were cancelled" Wow. Emmy really knew him that well. But the way Anabelle moved her hips prevented David from seeing the full picture and he was completely content with that.
Jane stood up mumbling something about grabbing water and was quickly out of the room. "Hey, babe, wanna see a cool word I made?" Emily was giggling again. Her word must have been really funny to have two grown girls giggling like that or they were both very high. David smiled and the edges of the world softened a bit, once he took in his girlfriend's happiness. "Sure" He smiled and sat down next to Emily.
David didn't completely understand it at the time, but Emily was over the moon with the announcement she was about to make, hence the giggling. She had done the test and it came back positive. So she did another one. And another one. One more, to be safe. To be sure. She immediately called Jane who started crying and laughing with her and then helped her find a way to tell David they were starting their family. A family of three. Emily hoped for a boy, but her gut was telling her it was a girl, but it didn't matter. She would love her baby unconditionally, no matter what.
Her and Jane skipped classes that day to prepare the surprise for David, but Emily didn't mind. Missing a class or two was nothing, when a little creature was beggining to grow in her tummy. She would become a mother. She couldn't believe it. She smiled again, ready to show, rather than tell the news to the father.
Emily closed her eyes and held her breath in anticipation. "We're having a baby?" David shouted and wrapped his beautiful pregnant girlfriend in his arms. They kept laughing ang giggling, laying on their bedroom floor, looking at the ceiling, already thinking of baby names.
