As Madeline had predicted, they woke the next morning in each other's arms. Snape had slept all night. He breathed deeply, her scent filling his senses - jasmine, vanilla, white musk, a hint of citrus. He pulled her closer. Her skin was so soft. Impossibly soft. And warm.
He felt rested for the first time in over a week. Rested. Peaceful. Content. Whole.
He sensed Madeline stir and then he felt her lips on his chest. A butterfly kiss against his skin. He kissed the top of her head and pressed her even closer to him.
It felt so intimate. So special. So loving. Neither wanted the feeling to end. They stayed intertwined for a long while, not wanting to break the spell.
Finally, she whispered, "Never leave me."
"Never," he replied. "You're mine, little girl, and I intend to keep you forever."
...
Snape and Madeline were lying together on a palette of pillows and blankets on the rug by the fireplace. It had been quite a while since they'd had an entire day together and they had made the most of it. They had kissed, touched, held hands, made love, never wanting to be more than an inch away from each other all day. He was toying with a particularly springy ringlet of her dark hair and looking into her eyes. He never tired of looking at her. Touching her. Being near her.
"Do you think Lucius would give me away at our wedding?"
"I'm sure he would. You should ask him."
"Would you mind?"
"Of course not. Lucius is my oldest friend."
"Good. I'll send him an owl and invite him to tea on Saturday and I'll ask him then. Oh, Severus. I can't wait to be your wife." She kissed the scar on his chest and then looked up at him, her love for him brimming from her eyes.
He bent and brushed his lips against hers.
"How I love you, my sweet girl."
"And I love you," she responded.
"Are you ready for your lesson with the headmaster tomorrow?"
"I think so," she said, tracing his lips with her finger. "I've been reading a lot about elemental magic and I've been practicing. I'm hoping Professor Dumbledore can help me learn to better control it. Sometimes things just...happen. I don't want to unintentionally hurt anyone. Especially with fire."
He kissed her finger as it crossed his lips. "Do you want me to accompany you to your lesson?"
"Yes, please. If you don't think the headmaster will mind. I hate being without you." She kissed his neck and put her fingers in his long hair and he moaned and pulled her to him.
"Little girl, I've made love to you three times already today and it's not even tea time. And yet I want you again. I can't get enough of you," he whispered huskily.
She laid her hand on his cheek and he kissed her. His tongue parted her lips and she melted into him. He pushed her onto her back and climbed on top of her.
"Love me, Severus," she whispered.
"Forever."
He made love to her again, slowly. Sensuously. Kissing, touching, whispering to her, covering her mouth with his as they came together.
