Chapter 15: Saving Him
"Let go!" I screamed terrified and gasping for air.
But he didn't let go.
I push, I shove, but he wouldn't move. I felt absolutely horrified in that moment, wondering what I've gotten myself into.
And through that time, only one thing echoed and made sense.
That was my first kiss.
Why did I think there was a slim chance he was a good guy? How could I have made such a dumb, foolish mistake?
"Let go, Alex," I sobbed tiredly, "let me go."
He idly raised his hand to my tear-stained cheek, caressing it as I was the most fragile thing on Earth. His eyes visibly softened.
"I can't," he spoke tenderly in my ear.
"Why not?"
"I can't tell you. Not yet."
"Why?" I probed sadly.
He grimaced, obviously not liking my persistence, "I promise I'll tell you, just not right now."
"Fine," I told him, a bit irked, "then tell me, what happened to those men?" I pointed to the locked door beside us. "Why do they look almost dead, while you're not?" I questioned skeptical.
His face formed to one of murderous intent.
"That was part of the deal we had."
"What deal?"
"None of your concern."
I gave him a glare and a scowl, while standing up, not liking how irritated he was making me. If he wasn't going to properly answer my questions, then guess I'll have to do it myself.
I calmly stride over to the sealed door, trying to unlock it.
It finally made a quiet little click that told me it was unbolted. Before I could attempt to open it, a sharp and angry voice spoke.
It sent shivers to my spine and I almost quivered through the thin layer of my shirt.
"Don't open that door or you'll regret it," he said harshly.
"I won't regret it, not on my life."
"It's not your life anymore."
A chill ran through me, "What in the world does that mean?!"
"Nothing. Just don't open the door."
I was too intimidated to face him, so I said it to the flat wall instead, "Too bad."
He didn't need to tell me there were serious consequences after. I knew.
I roughly shoved the door open and again, all the men stilled in immediate fear.
What happened to make them this way in such a short period of time? Was it really Alex who did this?
Strangely, I didn't want to believe Alex was the culprit unless they said so.
In a flash, Alex was behind me, gripping my hand so intensely it felt like he would snap it in half sooner or later.
"My sweet, sweet angel, you will pay dearly for disobeying me." I could feel a smirk hanging from his mouth.
