I didn't dream of anything like this happening but now that it is I'm thinking about accomplishing it. After all, it's for a person like me once and for all type of thing.

"Mom, I still can't believe it but I'm going to Korea. Out of 150 students, they chose me to attend that university's exchange program."

Mom:" Take a breath first, kook. Now I know you're happy but it all depends on your dad. Whether he wants you to go or not."

Me: "You don't have to worry about dad. I know he'll agree to this."

Dad from the other room looked at us with constricted eyes.

Dad: " I heard someone mentioning me. What am I going to agree with?"

Me: "Didn't I tell you about that student exchange program?"

Dad: " Yes so what about it?"

Me: " Well, they chose me."

Dad: " You got selected. My son got chosen?"

Me: "Really dad! You think too low of me."

Dad: " You know that was never the reason. When is it actually that you have to go?"

It seems to me that dad doesn't want me to go as his tone clearly states a bit of denial.*sigh*

But I don't care I want to and will go there.

Me: "On this coming Sunday."

Dad:" That's too early and we all have to attend a wedding on the same day and it is necessary for us all to attend that."

Me: "Dad, you already know I don't like going to weddings, and plus it's not like they're gonna cancel it just because your so-called carefree son, kook isn't there."

Dad: "Try to understand. That country is entirely incognizant for you. How or where are you gonna stay all these things must be put into account before you go there unplanned."

Me:" It's not. I was born there"

Dad: "Yes you were born there but you were only five when we migrated here. So you don't know anything about Korea."

Me: "Remember I once told you about a friend I made on social media, Jimin? He lives in a dorm there so I'll crash with him. It is only for about 15 days which means I'll be here before you actually know it."

Dad: "I don't feel good about this."

Me: "Please. It's not like I get to go there every day. Plus I'm tired."

Dad: "Fine fine. I know if I say no and then you'll cry about it and ruin this peaceful atmosphere of my house."

Me: "Really! thank you, dad."

I hugged him tightly and then winked at my mama who was from the very start against this when I filled out an application.
