Soojin POV

"Yeonjun, why have you been keeping this from me?"

I was eavesdropping on my mother's conversation with my dad. I told her that I had heard him and uncle Taehyun arguing one early morning, and she excused herself and told me to go play with my toys.

She went upstairs into mom and dad's shared bedroom, and closed the door. Me being the curious child I was, I decided to go and try to listen to their conversation through the door.

I put my ear against the door and kept as quiet as possible.

"Love, I didn't tell you because I don't want you to worry about it. It's not something you should worry about," I heard my dad say.
"Of course it's something I should worry about. You were arguing about me, for crying out loud!"

There conversation started to get heated, and I thought it was best if I walked away, fearing that what they might say shouldn't be something I should hear.

Ever since then, neither my mom or dad has mentioned anything about that day. Over the years though, I occasionally heard them talking about Taehyun through the closed bedroom door. Mom always sounded stressed when she spoke about him, and dad, well he just tried to keep her relaxed.

Anyway, I'm currently sixteen years old. My parents are both well over the age of thirty, but they both look like they haven't aged since they turned twenty-five. They still look young, still both very attractive.

Although they're much older, they still have a lot of issues from many years ago, before I was even born. And I know this because I listen to their conversations, when they think I can't hear them.

It's not because I'm nosy, well, maybe that's a little bit of the reason, but it's also because they don't tell me a lot. They try to make life seem perfect, and I know it's not.

I know about their past. I know that the man whose name keeps ending up in my parents' mouths is the one my mom cheated on my father with. I know the up's and downs they've been through, but I'm not judging them for it. I just want to know more. I want to know what has been going on with Taehyun over the past years. Why he's always a topic between my parents.

There's a lot I wish to know.

My phone begins to vibrate and I pick it up, checking the caller ID.

Hyunmin. I smile to myself. He's one of my closest friends, and he's been my friend for quite a long time now, as you know.

He's my support system.

"Heyyy, what's up?"

"Do you wanna go somewhere today? I'm bored."

"Oh, sure. Where to?"

"I found a skatepark nearby, we should try it out."

"Oh, that sounds like fun. Should we meet there?"

"Don't worry, I'll pick you up."

"Okay, I'll get ready. See you in a bit."

"See you!"

I hang up.

The one hobby Hyunmin and I decided to take up when we were thirteen was skateboarding. Ever since, we've been skating together, learning new tricks and everything.

My board was decorated with a large purple butterfly. It is my favorite animal. Well, insect...
Animal?

I ran upstairs and got dressed into comfortable clothes for skating, and went back downstairs.
