Soojin POV

It was a few days since I confronted my mother about the Taehyun situation. The bell had just rang for lunch, so I made my way to the usual spot my friends and I always sit at. I was the last one there.

"Hey guys, how has your day been?" I greet the three. "Tiring," Eunbi starts, "I need a break."

Terrence and Hyunmin nod in agreement.

"Also, what's up with you, Soojin? You still haven't told us why you ran upstairs like that at the party," Terrence says. I look at Hyunmin, him being the only person who knew what happened.

"It was nothing, really. I just needed some space, it was getting crowded," I say.

"Oh, okay."

"Hey guys, why don't we hang out after school, just the four of us? We can go to that cute cafe I was raving about the other day," Eunbi suggests. "Oh, the one with the pastel-colored walls?" Hyunmin asks. "Yep! So, what do you say?" She looks at all of us.

"Sounds like a good idea," I say. Terrence and Hyunmin agreed, and we made it official to meet up there after school.

"Well, I'm going to go hang out with Hayoon, I'll see you all later," Eunbi says with a smile, getting up and skipping away.

"Another reason I can't tell her," I say, looking at Hyunmin. "Tell her what?" Terrence asks. I let out a sigh and cross my arms. "Hayoon and I ran into each other at the party when I was alone, and it didn't go well," I tell him.

"Oh...What happened?"

I briefly explained the details to Terrence, before telling him to not tell Eunbi about it. "Why not? Shouldn't she also know?" He asks.

"Yeah Soo. Maybe she'll stop being friends with Hayoon then," Hyunmin adds. I roll my eyes at the fact that that nickname was here to stay, before saying, "She seems to be pretty good friends with Hayoon, and I don't want to ruin that, you know?"

Hyunmin scoffs, "Well, she shouldn't be friends with someone who would treat you like that."

"Just leave it, guys. It's fine, really," I tell them.

"Okay. But if she does anything else to you, she will have me to deal with," Hyunmin states, his tone angry. Terrence giggled.

School was now over, and I was making my way to Hyunmin's car. I caught a ride with him to school this morning.

The plan was to all meet at this cafe. It was about a fifteen minute drive.

"My mom said she was going out today," I tell Hyunmin as he starts driving out the parking lot. "You're saying it like there's something wrong with that," He replies.

"There is something wrong with it. She wouldn't tell my dad where she was going or me, which is suspicious. She always tells us where she's going or at least who she's meeting. Okay, maybe she doesn't always tell me, but she always tells my dad."

"You know, maybe you should just give this whole thing a rest. Your parents told you not to worry about it right? So maybe listen to them," Hyunmin suggests.

He was right, they did tell me not to worry, but I don't want my parents' marriage or family to be ruined because of this guy. Anything could happen.

"What do you plan to accomplish, with this whole thing, Soojin?" He asks.

"I dunno. I guess...I just want to prevent anything bad from happening," I start, "But I suppose there's not much I could really do about it."

"At least you care about them," He looks at me quickly and smiles, before turning his attention back to the road.

His smile has a different effect on me than it used to. It makes me weak in the knees, which is not something I'd ever even think of thinking of feeling towards him.

"I just don't want anyone getting hurt. Emotionally or physically," I say, ending the conversation.

"Wow," I walk inside the cafe and look around. It was very modern, with a lot of pastel colors all over. "It's so cute in here," I say to Hyunmin. There were a lot of people inside.

"Oh, there's Eunbi and Terrence," Hyunmin points to a corner where our friends are sitting. We go over to them. "Have you guys ordered yet?" I ask. They shake their heads. "We wanted to wait for you. Besides, we got here like five minutes ago only."

"This is such a cool cafe Eunbi, where did you find out about it?" I ask. "I'm on the side of tiktok where my whole for you page is restaurant and cafe suggestions," She says, "So this showed up and I got excited when I saw that it was close to us. I knew we'd have to come sometime."

"I'm not a huge fan of the decor," Terrence starts, "But I guess it's cute."

"Are you ready to order?" A waiter approaches our table. We all place our drink orders and the waiter leaves again.

My friends started making conversations, while I sat in silence. I wasn't really in the mood.

Now, what I'm about to explain might need a little bit of context.

Our table was in a small corner of the cafe, sort of hidden behind a wall. Next to the wall, around the corner, was a table and then it carried on against that wall. I was seated closest to that wall.

(pls, i hope this makes sense)

I heard movement of chairs behind me, and assumed that people obviously came to sit down there. Curious, I turned my head and was faced with another head, with very light blonde, short hair. They were sat closest to me, while the other person sat across from them, I couldn't see what they looked like though.

The reason I've payed so much attention to this couple is because I've seen that blonde hair before somewhere.

"Thank you for meeting me," A woman's voice says. I could hear parts of what they were saying, since their table was quite close.

"Of course. But, why here? It's so...."

The woman chuckled.

I tried my hardest to listen to them, through the bustling background noise of people talking and the sounds coming from the kitchen.

Now, the only reason I was listening was because I knew for a fact that this was Kang Taehyun sitting at a table with someone, and I thought he may say something regarding my mom. I really was going to stop searching, but it's not my fault he happened to be here the same time as me and my friends.

"This is a place no one would expect to see us, especially not together," The woman responds to Taehyun's half inaudible question, and that is the moment I realize who the voice belongs to.

I didn't know how to feel, or what to think at this moment. What was she doing here with him?

Thankfully Hyunmin was sitting next to me, and Terrence and Eunbi were arguing about something, which he wasn't apart of. I tapped his hand, causing him to look my way. 'Taehyun' I mouthed. His eyes went confused, then I looked into Taehyun's direction, but obviously Hyunmin wasn't able to see him.

He shrugged, still looking confused.

I leaned closer, whispering in his ear so that the others wouldn't hear. I didn't want them to get involved. "He's here...with my mom."

I move away, and his eyes go wide. His cheeks were also a little red, maybe he was getting hot.
