Rhaella stood inside the hut, now thirteen years old, with two-year-old Kol balanced easily on her hip.
Kol spent most of his time with her when he wasn't with their mother.
All of the younger Mikaelsons loved their eldest sister, but Kol had been especially attached to her from the moment he was born. Whenever he was upset or restless, it was usually Rhaella he wanted.
Inside the room, Esther had just finished giving birth.
The midwives carefully wrapped the newborn before placing the baby into Esther's arms. "A girl," Mikael said with a small smile.
After a short discussion, the family chose a name.
Rebekah.
Rhaella walked over to the bed with Kol still in her arms. "Look, Kol," she said gently. "That's our baby sister."
Kol leaned forward curiously. His little face lit up with a bright smile. "Bekah."
Rhaella laughed softly. "Yes," she said. "That's Bekah." She looked toward her mother. "May I hold her?"
Esther nodded, smiling tiredly. "Of course."
Rhaella carefully set Kol down beside her before taking the baby girl into her arms. She looked down at the tiny infant with a warm smile.
"Hello, baby girl," she whispered softly. "I'm your big sister, Rhaella." She brushed a finger gently against Rebekah's tiny hand. "I'm going to be the best big sister ever, and our brothers will be the best big brothers you could ever have." She crouched slightly so Kol could see the baby more clearly. "Kol, say hello to Bekah."
Kol looked up at the baby and grinned. "Hi Bekah."
Rhaella smiled proudly. "That's Kol," she said softly to the baby. "He's one of your big brothers."
After a moment she carefully handed Rebekah back to Esther.
"I'm going to get the others so they can meet her too." She picked Kol back up before heading outside.
It didn't take long to find Finn, Elijah, and Niklaus nearby.
Rhaella walked toward them with a bright smile. "Well," she said, "we have a baby sister now. Her name is Rebekah."
The boys immediately looked excited.
"Come on," Rhaella said, gesturing toward the hut. "You should all come meet her." With Kol still perched comfortably on her hip, Rhaella led her brothers inside so they could meet the newest member of the Mikaelson family.

Finn stood beside his older sister at the entrance to the caves that ran beneath their village.
He glanced into the dark tunnel before looking back at her uncertainly. "Are you sure this is a good idea, Ella?"
Rhaella grinned at him, a mischievous spark dancing in her violet-blue eyes. "Of course it is," she said. "Where's your sense of adventure, Finn? We're just exploring. There's nothing dangerous about that."
Finn crossed his arms. "Mother said we shouldn't go into the caves alone," he reminded her. "She said it isn't safe."
Rhaella waved the concern away with a casual shrug. "Well, what Mother doesn't know won't hurt her," she replied with a sly smile.
She tapped the hilt of the sword at her hip. "Besides, I have Dark Sister with me. If anything happens, I can protect us."
Finn sighed heavily. He knew that look. Ella was going in whether he agreed or not. And there was no way he was letting his big sister wander into the caves alone. "Fine," he said reluctantly. "Let's go."
