Chapter XIII

Rhaella gave her brother a confused look "I'm sorry Kol but it's not ringing any bells that I said that but if you say that I said it then I probably did but what happened why can't I recall telling you that?"

Kol shook his head "I don't know Ella but you want to speak with mother and now you can't recall what you told me do you want to look at my memories? So you can know exactly what you told me and also the conversation that I overheard between you and mother before you told me that?"

Ella nodded at him "if you don't mind little brother."

He smiled at her "of course, not Ella."

Ella grabbed everything she would need for the spell and the two made their way to Ella's hidden spot so that she could do this in a quiet and private location to not be overheard or seen by their mother because according to Kol, she had been in to see Esther for something.

Once everything was ready, Ella turned to her brother "are you ready? Now, this might be just a touch uncomfortable since I am going to be probing around in your memories."

The boy nodded "Yes Ella, I'm ready."

The older girl nodded and placed her hands on either side of his head and began her spell that would let her see into his memories to find out what exactly happened and why she couldn't remember it. She looked through his most recent memories starting with when she had woken him up that morning on accident and then went from there, after that she saw where he had come inside looking for her only to hear her talking to their mother about the dream Ella had about Freya.

Rhaella had watched the scene through her brother's eyes or well heard the scene since Kol had stayed hidden while, Ella and Esther had been talking she heard everything including the threat she had made about telling Mikael what Esther had done, she had watched right up until after Finn had come to fetch Ella, for their mother.

After Ella had seen it all she pulled back out of her brother's mind and blinked slightly with the real world coming back into focus. Ella let out a sigh looking at her brother "whatever potion mother gave me must have blocked the memory of the dream and anything that happened after I had spoken to her about it."

Kol gives her a curious look "why is mother so afraid of you telling father about whatever it is that happened?"

Ella sighed again "because mother knows that father will be furious if I were to tell him what really happened to his firstborn, Freya and I were the lights of his world when we were born and he always doted on us when we lost Freya father lost a part of himself as well and mother knows this, so she is afraid of what he may do to her if he were to know that what she said happened to Freya was a lie."

Kol was, even more, intrigued now "what really happened then if mother lied about it?"

Ella nodded, blowing out a breath before she started the story, "we were just children... Freya and I were five, and Finn was four, mother was pregnant with Elijah. Finn, Freya, and I were playing out in the fields of the village we lived in when mother called us in, so the three of us went to her and there was a woman that we had never met before standing with her, mother introduced the woman as her sister, our aunt Dahlia, I looked at mother and asked what she was doing there, the woman crouched down to my level and said that she was collecting a debt that was owed to her... I didn't understand what she meant when she said it, then she stood back up and looked at mother and said 'it's time.' Mother nodded at her like she knew what she was doing and..." Ella takes a shaky breath blinking back her tears.
