It was a hot and humid day out for P.E. and Coach Velotta wanted us to practice during this class period and heat. I still can't believe everyone had agreed to this. I was basically dying out here."I'm open, Trevor!" I screamed as loud as I could my parched throat.
"You better catch it this time!" Trevor yelled back.
As he hurled the ball at me with ludicrous speeds, Garrert ran up from behind me and snagged it out of my grasp, causing me to fall on the soft and cleanly cut grass. He ran past Trevor and scored a touchdown.
Garrett ran around the field screaming triumphantly, "BOOOM, that's how you do it, baby!"
"Man, whatever. You just got lucky. Maybe if Noah knew how to catch a ball." Trevor said with a dirty look.
"Stop throwing the ball so hard and maybe I'll be able to catch it." I fired back at him.
Overhearing our conversation, Mr. Velotta screamed, "BOYS, ENOUGH. As coach of the Silverleaf Varsity Team, I've had enough of arguing from you two, so forget what the other person said and practice again!"
He's usually not the happiest of people whenever Trevor and I argue, as most adults are, but we only do it for fun, it's how our friendship has been since 8th grade.
"Listen guys, we've got prom later this Saturday night. I want everyone here to do the best they can but I would also like for everyone to stop thinking of some half-assed party for teens." He said, trying to motivate us just a little bit.
Way to boost my motivation. I thought to myself.
As I went to pick up the ball and try again with Trevor and Garret in the blistering heat, I was once again saved by the lunch bell.
Mr. Velotta blew his whistle and in a much calmer tone, said, "Alright everyone, get out of here and go eat your slop. I'll see you after lunch."
As I start to walk to the cafeteria, the rest of the group catches up.
"Didn't even bother to wait for me? Did I beat you that badly?" Garrett said, almost in a snarky tone.
"HAHA! You let Garret beat you during practice? That's embarrassing." Erza said, being the total douche, he is.
Not one person on our team likes to be around him as he will rip into you with insults like your nothing but it's also not like everyone else does it, except Garret. Garret is a good guy who's basically everyone's friend as he does nothing wrong. He's a sweet guy who goes out of his way for anyone.
We walked into the cafeteria and got our seats, ones in the corner. They have the best spot for air conditioners, and it was just a little bit secluded.
"Hey Noah, you wanna come grab food with me?" Erza asked me out of the blue.
I was reluctant at first knowing how Erza is, but I accepted anyway.
"Anyone else wanna come with?" Erza asked.
Garret was suspicious of what was happening.
"No, I think we are okay. I'm not in the mood for whatever they have up there." he said.
"Alright then. Let's go, Noah. We don't have all the time in the world." Erza said.
As we were walking up to the line, I realized the group started whispering to each other and looking at me which made me a little nervous as to what was about to happen.
While we walked to the line, I noticed that he kept smirking about something, but I brushed it off.
"So, Noah, are you looking to make some cash for something a little embarrassing?" Erza asked with a smirk.
