"How can tell something is up?" I demand as I stand in the war room with Marco and a few other of my most trusted men.
"He has abandoned all his warehouses, abandoned supplies and all communications that we were monitoring have shut down."
I grimace and run a hand through my hair as I scan the surveillance imaging before me, searching for a clue of what Angelo wants.
"Keep working on it." I order Benjamin, the man I pay for surveillance, "and Marco, I need you to follow any and all tips about him."
He nods and leaves the room. After losing Amanda, Marco became my best soldier, cold, unfeeling and merciless. He follows my every command and that's it.
Walking from the room, I press my forehead against the cold wall and take deep, heaving breaths. I have just got Lucy back, and I can't lose her. I have to protect her from Angelo and his evil plans, but I can't do that here with such limited protection and defence.
I am going to have to tell Lucy that we have to return to the city, but I don't know how I'm going to do that.
Walking back into our room, I clear my voice to begin speaking, but my voice cuts out when I find Lucy sound asleep with her cat at her feet.
Shaking my head as the affection physically hurts me, I close the door and decide to give Lucy another day or two of rest and recovery.
"It's over! It's over!"
I hear Lucy crying out as she runs from the bathroom. I stand from my seat behind my desk in the office and wait for the explosion that is my lovely woman.
Right on cue the door bursts open and an excited, flushed faced Lucy appears.
"Hey gorgeous." I say with a smile, closing down my laptop before holding my hand out for her to take.
She holds my hand eagerly and lets me pull her against my chest, her head bumps against me before I cradle her to me.
"Sorry I've been working so much the last two days." I murmur before pressing a kiss to her hair.
"It's ok," Lucy looks up at me and grins, her perfect red lips spread into a smile, "you're the big, strong, sexy boss and I like that."
"You like that, huh?"
"Oh yeah." She giggles, teasing the buttons of my shirt with her fingertips.
Leaning down just as she tips her face upwards our lips meet in a gentle, intimate kiss. Our tongues caress each other as my hand splays across her back. My palms hungrily squeezing the soft, malleable flesh that sits around her hips.
"I've missed you." I murmur as we pull apart, nudging my nose against hers, "I've missed you like I never knew I could."
"I missed you too." Lucy admits, "I tried hating you, but I couldn't, I loved you too much."
