NOTE: Super fail. Huhu. Sorreh.
Run, I commanded myself, run away from everything.
Dusk came to a close as the shadows of the evening kissed the rich brown soil. Nightfall was fast approaching, and nobody knew who or what was lurking in the dark.
"Sweetie, don't go too far from mommy!" cried my mother as she chased after me. There she was, running, in her favorite fuchsia floral dress and dirty straw hat, the flowers on it falling off. Her brown eyes, sharp and piercing, were that of a predator hungry for its prey. Gone was the soft-spoken woman my mother was known to be; she had become a monster.
I could only thank my lucky stars that I was able to grab a bathrobe before leaving, but other than that, nothing. I seemed to be extremely unfortunate to be born to the family I have.
I was born to a father who seemed to be perfect, until the sun would set and until he decided to leave and to a mother who never quite moved on from my father, and I share these parents with my two lovely sisters - Carmela and Luisa.
"You could come with us," Carmela had suggested to me before, but I knew joining her would equal to giving up and I wasn't one who gave up easily.
As I went deeper into the woods, I noticed that the thicket of trees grow thicker than ever and that the bright full moon seem to watch over me and bore its eyes into the depths of my being.
Only a few stars were there for me, perhaps afraid and unprepared for everything that was about to happen. I couldn't blame them, I was not ready myself. I couldn't make out anything in the dark; my eyes were working against me and the dim light from the moonbeams were not of any help at all.
The odds were not in my favor, I gathered, as I wandered aimlessly in the foreign place. In actuality, the woods were just a few stretches away from home, but never did it cross my mind to pass through it, much less run from my life in it.
I was as lost and desperate as fish out of water - I was at the wrong place and for the worst possible reasons.
Slowly and carefully, I continued to stagger in the woods, in the middle of nowhere. For every movement, there was a tinge of unexplainable and unbearable agony, but my mind was too scattered to think of ways to lessen the pain. Heavy breathing only worsened the sensation. I could only clutch my side to keep the blood from flowing, but it was deemed useless.
"Alicia, dear, don't make me do this," my mother warned me. Her voice was still audible, but it sounded distant enough to assure me that I was a few steps ahead of her.
Stopping behind a willow tree, I heaved a deep sigh of relief. It was already dark and, except for the faint rustling of the dried leaves on the ground, only a deafening silence echoed throughout the woods.
"Ah, yes..." she trailed off. Mother wore her old wedding gown, the one I saw in the picture. It was a very simple dress - off-shoulder and long, but with a slit five inches above the knee.
I felt something hard push inside my swollen center countlessly.
Miguel... I could never be his any longer. My mother has total possession of me. She had taken everything, even the things that weren't supposed to be hers.
"Moan, you bitch!" shouted Mother. She pushed the object even harder. "Moan!"
I screamed in excruciating agony as tears unceremoniously flowed down my face.
She wiped the beads of sweat on her forehead and tossed the blood-stained flashlight on the floor. Then, without care, she ripped open her dress, revealing a pair of saggy breasts. The lines on her face and the markings on her body showed how old she had become.
