THE grey sky had become darker in the past few minutes, telling Arden that it was time to go home. She stepped away from the spot she had sat in for an hour, watching the small group of skaikru wander off to sleep during the night. One thing she loved about earth - besides having countless of adventures - was the forest at night. Due to the radiation, it had changed the trees, causing them to glow bright blues and greens after a long day in the sun.Arden remembered memories of her childhood where Lexa and her would run around the forest. They would chase glowing butterflies, gaze at the night sky and be scolded by their parents from running off away from home. Arden was still that little girl, Lexa had grown up, becoming more of a parent than anything.
It was fun sometimes, like the time they went riding together through the valley. Or the time when they were spying on a group of cute guys and girls while eating breakfast. Lexa and her could be such girls some times, but there was something always to call Lexa back to her serious self.
Arden stared at the glowing mushrooms in awe, Ace trotting around the trees happily. She guessed he liked night time, it made sense of course, that was when most wolf packs usually hunted. She shared the same liking, the nigh time was the best time to hunt. She gave him a large smile and walked into the flower patch.
This she hadn't seen at night, and it took her breath away. She stood there, her eyes catching on every single poison sumac in the garden. The pollen in each of the flower glowed a neon yellow, the radiation must have sunken in it's genes too. She thought back to when she at one of the dainty flowers this morning, her stomach must be glowing. Arden looked down at her stomach and lifted up her shirt, but lightly shook her head and laughed at her stupidity.
Ace bounced around the flowers, sniffing each one of them as he past the tiny petals. Her stilled hair was uncomfortable over her shoulders as a strong gust of wind picked up. The wolf was no longer pouncing on the glowing flowers, he was sniffing the wind. Arden frowned and brushed her fingers through her knotted hair.
What is it, boy? Arden wanted to ask the wolf, although she knew he couldn't speak.
Ace whined again and darted off into the darkness, where the forest didn't glow. Arden called for the friendly wolf to come back but he didn't. She stood in the patch of glowing flowers, waiting for an explanation from the whistling wind.
She got what she wanted. A loud horse whinny replied and a distant firelight showed up in the distance. Arden's heart thumped with nervousness, it was either her colony or reapers. Reapers don't ride horses, they eat them; she reminded herself. The thought only made her stomach knot together, maybe it was a reaper, maybe they were killing a wild horse.
Arden's breathing became shallow when the firelight of a torch came out a the thick forest line, four people on horseback wafted into the glowing flower patch. Ace bounced back to her, growling at the unfamiliar people. They were not unfamiliar to Arden, they were from Ton D.C.
"Anya, I was just heading back to camp." Arden tried to explain when the torch light showed the commanders warrior face.
"Lexa knew you would be here, but you can help us because you already found it didn't you?" The commander spoke, the horse she was one took a step forward towards the scared girl.
"I'm sorry.. What are you talking about?" Arden mumbled.
"It came from the sky, everyone saw it."
"That? No, Anya, I have not." She blinked a few times when she realized she was lying and was protecting the skaikru.
Anya gave a hard look to Arden before turning her steed around, the other two horsemen beside her trotting along her side with bright torches. Her sister sat on the other horse, her imitating braided hair was neatly brushed behind her back.
