Interlude

  "Don't leave!" Ruu clutched at his legs, "you have to stay! I need you to help me change it!"
  Kunikuzushi shook his head, "Ruu... you should come with me. It isn't safe here anymore."
  "No! We can fix it! I know it!" His eyes overflowed.
  Kunikuzushi pat his head, "I really can't convince you to leave..."
  "Never!" Ruu held onto him tightly, "please stay..."
  Kunikuzushi hated to leave a child all alone on an island like this... but he wasn't supposed to still be alive... Kunikuzushi had no explanation for Ruu at all. Somehow he was still alive and he was determined to bring everyone else back... There was nothing he could do.
  "I'm sorry..." Kunikuzushi pushed him off.
  Ruu staggered backwards, "then don't come back! I don't want to see you ever again!" He ran off, wiping his eyes.
  "You probably won't..." Kunikuzushi sat down in his little boat.
  He was finally leaving... He didn't know what waited for him out there or what would happen to him, but he couldn't stay on Tsurumi Island anymore. It held too many painful memories...
  He had no concept of time anymore, either. He really had no idea how long it had been since the last lost person had found their way to him.
  He didn't want to remind anyone else of someone they cared about. He wanted people to see him for himself.
  But he didn't have to worry about that anymore. He would leave all those memories behind him.
  Or that's what he wished for.
  He did live a few peaceful years on the quiet Watatsumi Island, but it didn't last long.
  Someone found him. They saw his potential and weren't about to let it go to waste.
