The rest of the fight with the Mind Flayer was a massive blur.

And that Fourth of July would go down in history as the longest day of Azalea's life. A roller coaster of emotions which left her completely drained.

To think just earlier that day, she was with her dad in a secret Russian bunker. And now she was trying to fight for her life against a super-natural monster with the girl she liked. The girl she kissed.

And of course, it wasn't over.

Billy was dead.

The Mind Flayer murdered him brutally as he broke free from it's mind-control to protect El.

Azalea never cared for Billy. He was douchebag, but he didn't deserve to die. To be so terribly murdered.

Max's heart-wrenching screams were forever imprinted in her brain.

The gate was closed.

As it shut, the Mind Flayer stumbled and thrashed violently, shrieking as it fell.

The mall itself took a massive hit from this creature. As it fumbled, it crashed into stores, into walls, and beams supporting the mall's structure. It nearly took out Azalea and Robin as it crashed into the second level, leaving the two terribly fear-struck.

When it finally fell unmoving to the ground, the group of kids took in the damage.

Parts of the mall were on fire, smoke slowly filling the ruins of the mall. They were lucky the entire structure didn't collapse in on them.

It was funny how the one place that brought Azalea her most happy memories that summer was almost the end of them.

Azalea panted heavily, her and Robin clinging tightly onto each other. No one moved. No one dared to speak.

Fear froze them to their spot, breathing in the growing smoke.

"Is anyone in here?" A voice called loudly into the mall. The voice was followed by dozens of firemen filing into the mall to extinguish the blazing fire, "Everyone out! Quickly!"

Azalea felt like she woke up, coming to her senses. Gripping Robin's hand tightly, not caring who saw, Azalea stood and pulled Robin to her feet, "Hey, we gotta get out of here,"

Robin nodded numbly, following her down to the lower level of the mall, stepping over broken glass and avoiding unsafe structures. The rest of the group seemed to follow suit, the kids all filing out of the mall escorted by firemen, a heavy cloud of distress and loss over them.

Outside, they were greeted by wailing sirens of fire trucks, police cars, and ambulances and the blaring lights shining down on them from helicopters above.
