"shotaro?" hikari asked, pushing open the door of the boy's room to see if her brother was there. however, the room was completely empty, barely looking like it was used by someone. "shotaro?" she asked again walking around the house but seeing no trace of the boy. "hawoon?" she then asked, knocking on the bathroom door.

"yes, babe?" the male answered from inside.

"is shotaro with you?" she asked. "i can't see him anywhere."

"no, he went out a while ago. he said he needed a bit of fresh air." hawoon explained what shotaro had told him a while ago.

"and you didn't go with him?" hikari frowned.

"i wanted to, but he refused categorically."

"h-he... what?!" hikari gasped. "shotaro's an omega, he would never say no to someone."

"well, something obviously changed, because he did."

effectively, shotaro was out in the streets, breathing in a bit of fresh air as he had told hawoon a while ago. it felt good to be outside of the house after almost a week and a half. these past days had been like hell for him, he didn't want to do anything anymore, and he didn't even have the strength to do anything either.

it was super weird. it wasn't that shotaro wanted to act like that, but he couldn't not act like that. it was as if something had taken possession of his body and prevented him to be the usually happy and bubbly omega he was. he wasn't the master of his own body anymore...

something sucked the life out of him and he didn't even know what. the only thing he knew was that he was missing something, and he was almost sure that this 'something' was none other than his mate.

but how could you miss someone that you didn't even meet?

"hello young man."

the omega lifted his head the fastest he could, making it look like he was moving in slow motion. his eyes fell on a male – a beta judging by his lack of scent – that seemed to be in his thirties.

"hello..." shotaro replied.

"what are you doing here on your own?" the man asked.

"i needed a bit of fresh air." the omega stated.

"well, i'm not sure this neighbourhood is the best place to breathe in some fresh air, firstly because the air here reeks of filth, drugs and alcohol, but also because it isn't the nicest neighbourhood around town."

shotaro stayed silent, looking up at the male without moving. his mind screamed at him to run away and go back to the comfort of his home to cuddle between hikari and hawoon. he knew this neighbourhood was awful, and that dozens of crimes happened every week in here, but he couldn't move. his body acted on his own, and he couldn't even decide what he wanted to do nor what he wanted to say anymore. it felt like he was meant to be here right now.

"you look too cute and innocent to be a beta... are you an omega?" the man asked, studying shotaro's body.

"yes." shotaro nodded.

"well, then i advice you not to stay here. i don't see a mark on your neck, so you porbably didn't find your mate yet. i'm not sure you'll get out of here in a sane state if you continue walking in here." the man in his thirties explained, looking around the dirty street.
