21 BBY | Month 7, Day 2-3
Roxuli Atmosphere | Multiple conditions happening
The Havoc MarauderBlaster fire erupts across the skies of Roxuli, the chaos inside the Havoc Marauder reflecting the intense battle outside. Space pirates weave through the thick clouds, their starships swarming in an attempt to reclaim the cargo that the Bad Batch successfully retrieved for the Republic. In the midst of the storm, Raklee Shaaz, the pirate leader, can be heard barking orders over her open comm channel.
"Get them out of my sky! I want that cargo back, or it's your heads!" Raklee's voice echoes through the Marauder's comms, unaware that the Bad Batch can hear every word.
"Ha! She's loud," Wrecker bellows from the back of the ship, his hands firmly gripping the ion cannon turret. He squeezes the trigger, firing at one of the pirate fighters, but misses as Tech jerks the ship left, avoiding a barrage of laser fire.
"Tech! Keep the ship steady!" Wrecker shouts, struggling to realign his shot.
"I'm trying!" Tech retorts over his active comm device, his voice going through Wrecker's, tight with concentration as he maneuvers the Marauder through the dense clouds. He is just barely skimming the tops of rocky peaks below.
Hunter, seated in the co-pilot chair, scans the skies for an opening. "We've got what we came for. Tech, plot a jump to hyperspace. We're done here."
"Already on it," Tech responds, quickly inputting coordinates into the nav system. The stars begin to stretch, the pirates' starfighters falling behind, as the Marauder finally makes the jump to hyperspace.
The cockpit falls silent as the adrenaline eases off. Hunter exhales, tension releasing from his shoulders. "Finally. Next stop, Coruscant."
But the moment of calm doesn't last long. Noble, sitting in the back running diagnostics on the ship's systems, suddenly frowns. Panic edges into her usually calm voice as she reads through the data, walking to the front of the starship. "Uh... Hunter. We have a problem."
The sergeant turns, surprised by the tone in his medic's voice. "What kind of problem?"
"The hyperdrive is leaking," Noble says, her mind racing as she checks the data again to make sure. "It's not going to hold. We need to drop out of hyperspace and land somewhere. Soon."
Tech stands up, intrigued by her findings. "Leaking hyperdrive? Let me see." He leans over her shoulder, examining the datapad she is holding and nodding in approval as Gonky honks in the background to Crosshair and Wrecker. "You're right. Impressive-Anything else to add, Doc?"
Hunter stands there, crossing his arms. "So, for a medic, I didn't anticipate you so quickly pointing something like that out. How?"
"It's basic ship diagnostics," Noble replies, her tone more matter-of-fact than anything. "It was part of training. Nothing special. Rather simple, actually."
Wrecker and Crosshair, hearing the commotion from the back, stomp their way into the cockpit. "Got bigger problems back here," Wrecker grumbles. "Ion cannon's jammed."
Tech whirls on Wrecker. "How did you jam the ion cannon?"
"I didn't jam it! You messed up my shots with your flying!" Wrecker shoots back.
As their argument heats up, Noble stands, her mind fully focused on the impending crisis. "It doesn't matter right now. The ship's engines need fixed, among other things, not a turret. We need to land-"
Suddenly, without warning, the ship jerks violently as the stars around them return to normal. They're yanked out of hyperspace, the ship's systems sputtering in protest. A snowy planet looms ahead, growing larger with each passing second.
