A breakup reminded that being gay existed

I hold hands with my girlfriend Katrina into university. I have my best friend Colby beside me as we walk to our lockers. We all got pretty lucky and have our lockers together. Katrina's on the left and Colby's on the right, leaving mine in the middle.
I feel pretty nervous about meeting new people because people can be brutal.

Anyway, I grab my computer science book and head to class, I found it just in time, even though the halls are like a maze as they all look the same.

"Good morning, you must be a new coming student, Sam Golbach? Am I right?" My teacher said. "Yes ma'am" I replied, "I'm mrs tauhyung" she said kindly. "Okay mrs tauhyung" I smiled and then sat in an empty seat.

Some dude dirty looked me and I frowned, looking away. 'What's this guy's problem?' I thought. Half the class gone by and I understand most of it. I'm not struggling as much as I did last year- and well, I did study most of the summer.

"Hey sam" someone called from behind me. I turned around and made eye contact with the same guy who dirty looked me. "Uh, hi?" "I saw your girlfriend, she's hot" "I know- hint, she's my girlfriend" I said.

"Oh sammy boy has an attitude" he laughed with the rest of his friends. "Dude, grow up" I said, rolling my eyes at him, now re-focusing on my work. "She won't be for long" he said. I ignored him and continued my work.

Half of the day as gone buy and I have not seen Katrina. Since it's lunch, I'll go looking for her.

I walked into the cafeteria and immediately see her with the same guy who is in my computer science class. "Kat are you serious?" I yelled, walking over. "Sam hi" she smiled. "Why are you with him? He's not a nice guy" he said. "I like him" he said, defending him. I was in disbelief. "Why didn't you say anything? I have been looking for you and texting you" I said. "Get over it sam. It's not a big deal" she said, rolling her eyes.

"It is when I start to worry and you're not answering"
She just rolled her eyes at me and turned around. "I told you she'd be mine" the guy mocked.
"Shut it you. I didn't ask for you to speak to me" I seethed. "Sam" Katrina yelled. "Wait so it's okay for him to talk to me like shit but it's not okay if I do the same?" I yelled. "Literally pick a side, me or this idiot?"

"I pick Brennen" she yelled.
I'm guessing that's him name. "Wow okay. Just block my number Katrina. We are done" I said- walking away.

As I walk away from the cafeteria, I bump into Colby. "Hey sam" he smiled brightly. "Hi Colbs" I smiled. "Let's get out of here" he said. "Sure, I don't have any more classes" I said.

We left the building and we got into his car. (I'm getting my care fixed, so I took the bus, Katrina drove and Colby drove)
"Whatcha wanna do?" He asked. "I don't know" I said, not in the mood to do anything. "What's wrong?" "Me and Katrina broke up because she chose a dude she knew for 30 minutes and our 2 years wasted" "aw man that sucks. I'm sorry" he said.

"It's okay, I've got you" I smiled slightly. He smiled at me reassuringly. I kinda had a crush on him, but I genuinely pushed it aside because I was dating Katrina and I surely thought I loved her. Well I guess not and it didn't work out as well as I thought.
Now all my feelings I pushed down are now coming back and am now feeling butterflies and nervous around him.

Great.

"We are going back to mine and you don't have a choice" he said pulling up his driveway. "Good thing I don't care" I laughed. He laughed with me and we walked into his house. It was massive and empty. No one was in- well until we came into the house. "I want food" he groaned and walked himself into the kitchen. I adored his cuteness and followed him. "Want something?" He asked, while searching the cabinets. "Instead of struggling, how bout we order?" I suggested. "Pizza?" He said. "Dude that's so generic, let's have Taco Bell?" "They deliver" he said confused. "Yeh" I laughed. Can't believe he didn't know they delivered.

"Let's have Taco Bell" he cheered. I ordered our usual then we went upstairs. We jumped on his bed and laid down. "It's gunna be like- 40 minutes" I said. "That's sooo long" Colby complained. "You'll live. You won't die of starvation" I giggled. "I might" he said. "Your so dramatic" I said. "You love me" I said lightly hitting me. "Do I?" As i squinted my eyes at him. "You should. I'm amazing" he said. "I know that doofus"

I rolled my yes playfully at him and he sat up and pulled me towards him. He scanned my face as I got butterflies in my stomach. "Hmmmm, I can sense something your not telling me" He said, squishing my face.

Okay how did he know that? Sure he can read me like a book, but that fast? What?

"I-what?" I stuttered. Wow I made that so easy for him to actually understand. He definitely knows I like someone.

"Oh my god you like someone. Fucking tell me right now" he beamed. "I can't share that" "and why not? You tell me everything" he said confused. "Because I'm nervous" I admitted.

"Telling me you like a girl? How is that nerve racking?" He said. "It's not a girl" I blurted. "Well- who is he?"
Oh damn. Man don't care and just want my answer. "What if I said my best friend?" I said, feeling heat rush to my cheeks, regretting that I just said.

"Me?" He asked. I nodded slowly and backing away a little. "Oi bitch where you going?" He said, pulling me back towards him. "Your not weirded out?" I asked. "No" he laughed. He kissed my cheek.

I bet he did that to see my reaction, because the prick saw me blush. "Awww sammy has a crush on me. That's cute" he said. "Gee thanks, love my life"

I heard a knock on the door. We looked at each other and shouted "FOOD" at the same time. He pecked my lips and pushed my off him to get the door.

My blonde ass was too stunned to speak or to move. That dork just kissed me and I don't know what to do with myself. I soon got up and meet him downstairs. "Took you long enough" he giggled.

"That's your fault" I said death staring him.

"Oh hush. You secretly loved it" he winked.

I just rolled my eyes he grabbed plates for us.
