If someone had told you two months ago that you would have met Captain America himself, you would have acknowledged it was a possibility. However, if someone had told you that you would not only have met Steve Rogers, but also be mated to him less than three weeks after that first meeting; you would have laughed so hard and long you might have died from it.
But, that is exactly what happened.
When you had presented as an Omega, and as you sat waiting to receive your first collar, you had made a promise to yourself. You had told yourself that you would not be one of those Omegas that were a slave to their hormones. That would beg to be knotted, beg to be taken, beg to be claimed by the very first alpha that smelled good to them.
However, that's pretty much exactly how it happened with Steve. And you couldn't find it in yourself to actually be upset with it. Steve was the type of Alpha pretty much all Omegas dream about. Dominate, confident, strong, a natural leader. Not to mention hot. So goddamn hot that just thinking his name could have slick dripping down your legs.
And it turned out that Steve was the kind of Alpha that apparently wanted to knot you every opportunity he could. And you had yet to even experience one of his ruts yet. The thought of him wanting you even more than he apparently already did made you shiver with pleasure. Everything about Steve made the submissive Omega inside of you purr and preen.
The sex was phenomenal, but there were a lot of other hurdles for you to jump over. Like the fact that you still didn't know a lot about each other. Well, you had a pretty good idea of his history—he was such a huge figure in World War 2 that pretty much anyone who had a history class knew all about Steve Rogers' history.
But it turned out that there was a lot of that history that never made it into the books. Like the fact that he had originally presented as a beta, or that he had been mated to one James Buchanan Barnes—his best friend and the man who would eventually become The Winter Soldier. Brainwashed, abused, and used by the very organization he had fought against with Steve. It also left out that despite becoming an alpha because of the serum, he still had loved his best friend. Still had considered him his mate and eventually had planned on resetting the bond that the transformation erased.
And then The Snap happened and he had lost the one he loved all over again.
That had been a huge thing to learn and you were still working to accept it. It was weird to know that the person you were mated to had loved someone for over seventy years and would have defied all sorts of societal expectations and acceptance for that person. But, you were bound and determined to not let it affect the way you felt about Steve and what was budding between you.

You woke alone, which wasn't unusual. Steve had habits that were so ingrained in him that even when the world fell apart, he still did them. Getting up at the butt crack of dawn was one of them. Since you were awake, and judging by the silence in the apartment you now shared Steve was still out. Rolling out of your shared nest, you stretched before pulling on a robe and heading out to start breakfast.
That was another thing it was still taking you a while to adjust to, the super soldier metabolism. He ate enough food to feed at least three grown men. You had bacon and pancakes keeping warm in the oven and were just about to scramble up eggs when you heard the door open. In moments, Steve's warm woodsy smell washed over you, his arm wrapping around from behind, face pressing into your neck.
"I was hoping to come home and find you still all tucked up warm and sleepy in bed," he murmured in between peppering your neck and shoulders with warm and wet kisses. His hands had slid under the edges of your robe and were currently teasing and stroking over your skin.
