"I see the wolves have doubled on security tonight" Agnes said looking through binoculars. "No matter, three hearts will be easy enough now," Kara said. "Don't underestimate those wolves," Rosemary snapped. "One wrong move and our plan will go up in flames" she added Agnes and Kara both nodded in agreement. "I want a thorough look into all the parameters" Rosemary told the other witches. They dispersed into groups of three.

Kev paced the floor of his office playing back the kiss he shared with Faythe. That went too far and too fast, he had to keep his distance from her. Plain and simple. "Alpha Kev" a voice sounded from his intercom. Kev reached over and quickly picked it up "Any updates?" "spotted three witches. East of the edge of town" the wolf said. "Don't engage yet" Kev said sternly. "Roger," he said. Other wolves checked in, confirming three more witches. A total of 9 witches all together.

These wolves were prepared, Rosemary thought. Agnes was too careless with the last kill, the wolves glared at her ready for any attack that they had. There were only nine of them, more wolves were probably coming too. Dammit, "Agnes, Kara comeback... We're outnumbered" "what?" Agnes asked. "They are calling for backup," Rosemary told them. "On our way" Kara responded.

"They are gone," one of the guards announced on the intercoms. "Roger" other wolves confirmed. Kev sat back in his chair, gone? "Good work but don't let your guard down" Kev told them. This was just the first night of the watch, it was good that they were able to run them off this time but Kev knew they would come back.

"How is that stupid girl so hard to find" Agnes snapped. They were back at the hideout trying to come up with a plan. "She's there, I can feel it," Rosemary said, looking out the window. "I think I have a way to infiltrate Howling Peaks," Kara said. "I will disguise myself and sneak into the town," she added. "If it was that easy we would have done it by now" Agnes snapped at her. "There is a spell that I was researching, the old hag spell. It disguised your appearance and scent." Kara said, "So you'll be an old lady?" Agnes asked. "Yes, but this spell has side effects as you know?" Rosemary asked "of course but I am willing to take that risk" Kara said proudly. Rosemary nodded "do what must be done" she said. Kara said a spell and turned herself into an old woman.

The next morning Faythe woke up, she had forgotten that she wasn't in her small cottage home. She stretched and yawned, her mind automatically going back to the kiss from last night. Stop it, Faythe thought as she quickly got out of bed. She had to get out of here, her clothes were neatly folded on the dresser. She grabbed them, a towel and a washcloth and went into the bathroom to get ready to leave.

"Good, our increased security made them back off," one of the guards said proudly. "For now anyway" Kev said as he turned to the window. "I still want to know what they were after," Kev said. Sure witches weren't that bright but they usually had a motive to their madness. "Meeting adjourned, please keep your guards up. Just because the witches gave up last night doesn't mean they will today" Kev said. The others agreed and went on about their way– all except Zander. Kev went through his paperwork for work that happened in a few hours. "How's the girl from last night?" Zander asked "she had a fever last night but that went away" Kev said. "I see" Zander said slowly, Kev glanced at him. What was he thinking? "Any reason why?" Zander asked, "not sure. she said she was seeing visions of fire and it was as if her body was feeling it" Kev said.

Zander knew the reason why but he couldn't say. He promised. "I don't think you should get so close to her," Zander said. Kev looked up at him "wasn't going to" Kev said promptly placing the papers in his briefcase. There was an underlying tone in his voice "did something happen last night?" Zander asked "nothing to worry yourself with Z" he said as he closed his briefcase properly and carried it with him as he left the room.
