Howling Peaks

Prologue

 "She has to be punished for this" the Witch Elder Dark Meg said looking into her crystal ball. "I don't understand, why must she be punished" Alice, a new witch asked. Evanora had been showing her the ropes of magic and the coven. Why did she need to be punished? "She broke one of our sacred laws" another witch with pale skin and brown hair by the name of Rosemary said. "Not to mingle with a human" another chimed in. "That's where she went off to all this time? Roaming around with a human" another grumbled. "to think she was so talented" "Nonetheless you know what has to be done" Dark Meg said. "What must be done?" Alice asked, "She, her lover and the baby must be killed" Rosemary said. Alice put a hand over her mouth and gasped. "Why? Because she married outside of the coven?" "Because she had a half baby" Rosemary said. "She's going to die early anyway" a fair girl by the name of Agnes said with a shrug. "While us witches have our limits half- witches do not. They consume and use so much power without even knowing it that their bodies are not able to handle it all and so they die" Rosemary said coldly. Alice shivered "well go ahead I have sent you all her location" Dark Meg said. Alice wasn't sure she could be apart of this...but she couldn't possibly say no she was a new witch Afterall.

As Alice rode her broom a voice came into her head. Please, protect my daughter. It was Evanora's voice. Alice gasped, did she know the coven was coming to kill her already? How could you let this happen? Why a human!? Tears blew in the wind. She hated this, how could she kill her own mentor? Love. I had formed a barrier to keep the coven from finding me... However when I went into labor and the barrier weakened. Alice shook her head. Stupid! Careless! How could she do this? Be so selfish?! I am so sorry to put this on you... and it could possibly put you in danger. Alice gripped the stick of her broom, she made up her mind that she would do what she said. I promise to watch over her Alice swore. Thank you.

"You have to go" Evanora said quickly to her husband Zane. "What? What are you talking about?" Faythe began to cry as if sensing her mother's uneasiness. Evanora held her close "Eva... what are you not telling me?" Zane snapped "the coven is coming for me" she said on a sigh. "What do you mean?" Zane asked, "they are coming to kill me" she said she turned to him with tears in her eyes "and you and Faythe" she said. "Why?" Zane asked, Eva tried to shush Faythe "I'm not supposed to be here... with you...married to you." Eva cried. Zane walked over to her and hugged her. "I'm so sorry" Evanora said on a sigh. "I am your husband and I will protect you" Zane promised. "Please, don't this is my burden to bare" "you said they were coming to kill me too so it is mine too" Zane said.

"Witches hate pine wood" Evanora said as she placed Faythe in the wooden crate. "They can't detect magic through it" Evanora said. "You told me that once but why put Faythe inside?" Zane asked. "She is a half witch" Evanora said gently touching her daughter's face doing so she placed a protective spell over her and a spell to cover her magic" Evanora heard the wind howl outside. "They are here" Evanora said quickly putting the holed up pine wood over the wooden crate. "I'm going to stall them" Evanora said."No...I'm coming with you" Zane said grabbing her and kissing her. They were both teary eyed but their minds were made up. They would do everything in their power to protect Faythe.

"Eva Eva Eva" Agnes said with a shake of her head as she hopped off of her broom. "Agnes" Evanora said ready for a fight. "To think you were one of the top witches" Rosemary said from the skies. "That's why Dark Meg had to send all of you" Evanora said motioning to the other witches in the sky behind Rosemary. "Shut up!" Agnes snapped throwing a magic ball. Evanora effortlessly made a barrier to block it. "Zane now!" Evanora exclaimed, he came out with a bow and arrows hitting Agnes in the eye. "AHHHHHHH!" She exclaimed holding her eye. "Holy water!? You gave him our weakness!?" Agnes exclaimed pointing at him with a shaky hand. Zane was shooting at them one by one. Taking some down some dodged. Evanora smiled at him, "Eva look out!" Zane exclaimed but it was too late. Rosemary had somehow broke her barrier and pulled her heart out of her chest. "NOOOOOOO! EVA!" Zane exclaimed running to her. "Damn you!" Zane exclaimed trying to shoot an arrow. Rosemary grabbed the arrow and turned to him and stopped him with her magic. "Now, before I kill you I want to know where the baby is" Rosemary said simply. "Like... I...will...ever...tell...you" He coughed out. Rosemary with a snap of her fingers broke his arms. He shouted in pain "tell me or it will be your legs" Rosemary said. "Kill me" Zane spat out. She broke his legs "not yet" Rosemary snapped.
