{Spring 12, Year 3, 6:00 A.M.}

You woke up at your usual time, you know, 6:00 A.M. sharp. It was raining, so you hummed at the sound of the soft pitter-patter of the rain on your windows. It was an unusually cold spring, however, and you didn't want to get out of bed to do your tasks. You turned to your side and, as usual, the spot next to you was empty; but for some reason, today it made you a little sad. You curled up in the warmth of your blanket and closed your eyes again, hoping to either go back to sleep or begin to daydream.

After around an hour or two, you heard the lock on your door click, then the sound of it opening, followed by the squeak of the old hinges, a pause,  and another two clicks, meaning the door was closed and locked. There was a small shuffle, then the sound of footsteps approaching the bed. The footsteps were familiar, which eased your nerves some and you kept your eyes closed.

You heard some more shuffling and felt someone put a hand by your pillow before kissing your forehead. Of course, you knew who it was at this point so you didn't move away or shoot out of bed. He then put the back of his hand to your forehead, most likely checking your temperature to try and figure out why you hadn't gotten up yet.

You opened one eye slightly and smiled a little at him before shutting your eye again. He smiled and chuckled softly, removing his hand from your forehead and sitting on the bed in front of you. "Now why haven't you gotten up yet, darling?" He asked, his tone remaining light and playful.

You opened your eyes again and looked at him, shrugging. "I dunno, I just- really didn't feel like it, I guess."

Shane nodded and smiled softly. "Of course, I've been there." He said, moving to get up but pausing when he felt you grab his hand. "Oh, do you want me to stay?" He asked, to which you nodded and pulled him back onto the bed. He just smiled and wrapped his arms around you, letting you rest and close your eyes. "Better?"

You nodded. "Better."

You both laid there for a moment before another word was spoken.

"You're lucky I fed your chickens."

"Shut up, dork."
