Phedora

"Look, mommy! Look!" I watch the grin of pure excitation expand on my baby girl's face as she hops on the iceberg that is made out of paper with three other kids as the exciting clamors of both adults and children is deafening due to the bass blasting through the speakers from the DJ playing festive music. Elena's dark brown copper shoulder length curly tresses is secured in a high top ponytail as it dances while she hops on the paper iceberg.

"Mommy, I did it!"

Seeing my baby girl happy makes me happier as well as Kurt because for the first time of my life, I feel free after divorcing my ex-husband three years ago because it was already over for a long time. My feelings for him is feigned and the marriage shouldn't have happened in the first place; my love for my husband and our baby girl is where I want to be. Kurt and I moved from a one room apartment in Coram and a month after Elena was born, Kurt surprised me with a two story house and to top it all; he got down on one knee with a four carat white gold tear shaped ring! Boo-yah! A four carat ring dripping in 18k white gold that outshines any other bitches' ring!

"Way to go, baby!" I cheer, clapping my hands with genuine content as a fond smile expands on my face when I feel a set of two arms snake around my waist as I take a whiff of a pungent woodsy aroma make its presence.

"Hey there, sexy momma. Kurt murmurs and plants a big smooch on my right temple. I beam lovingly at his deep voice and I turn to glance at him. "Hey, sexy daddy." I purr and rest my hands on top of his. "Mmm, I love it when you call me that." Kurt growls with his hooded eyes burning with such libidinous desire.

"Phedora! Kurt!" I turn my head when I hear our names being called to see one of our great friends, Addison approaching towards me with her two year old twins; Sadie and Sebastian as well as her husband, Adam. I notice their kids' heads full of strawberry blonde curls making their way to us and I greet these babies with kisses on the cheeks before they join Elena to play iceberg hopscotch and I hug the couple. "Hey, Kurt!" Adam chuckles heartily as he and Kurt exchange their secret high five while he hugs Addison briefly.

"How are you two enjoying the party?" Addison queries before she brings the cup of what looks like hot cocoa between her lips.

"We love it! Elena is having a good time now that you are all here," I beam and turn around to take a look at Elena having a whale of a time playing hopscotch with Sadie and Sebastian. I first met Addison at a place I work at that is not too far from Coram at a local hair salon called Wear & Go-- she was the client while I was a hairstylist, to this day. Anyway, I did a feathered silk press on her wavy hair around the Christmas holidays while I was three months pregnant with Elena and she was so ecstatic with my work, we ended up hitting up. She told me she and Adam moved from Vermont to Riverhead because he believes that moving to Long Island is safe. And Adam's right; Long Island is a safe place to stay along with the beaches in the Suffolk County. Coming from East Orange, I have fallen in love with Long Island eleven years strong now that I'm married to the man of my dreams and we share a beautiful daughter together. I couldn't be any more happier with the life I have now with my family. Addison told me on that very exact visit to the salon that she was expecting triplets, but a few days later; she lost one of the babies and carried twins instead. Discovering what Addison went through, I can definitely identify with because I went through the same thing during my junior year of high school when I got into a fight with a girl during P.E.at the West gym following fifteen more or so after I had my son in my previous marriage. Adam and Kurt met through their bond of snowboarding and took both Addison and me to the Lake House Restaurant and the rest is history.

Addison, Adam, Kurt, and I along with our kids are having a blast at a winter party taking place at the reception hall of their Fairfield Pines East apartment complex in Riverhead. Earlier, the enamored kids waved at the snowman mascot as the snowman waved back generously as well as taking pictures with the kids, including Elena, of course. Also, I got to put up a picture on the refrigerator when we get home.
