Kehlani

After pulling up to the driveway of my mom's house, I exit the car just as Tessa gets out of the car while I extricate Harper from her car seat. The three of us make our way to the front door and I knock on the door.

Within seconds, the door pulls open to reveal my mom as her eyes light up and the corners of her mouth lifting. "Hi, babies!" My mom's arms swathe tightly around me, pulling me in so close prior to hugging Tessa and Harper.

"Hi, grandma!" Both Tessa and Harper exclaim excitingly.

"Come in! The food is almost ready." We enter the house to find my brothers and our dad watching the Super Bowl in the living room.

"What's up, sis?" Tyler greets me with a hand hug handshake.

"Hey, bro!" I smile.

"How are you and my nieces doing?" Kevin gives the girls a hug one at a time.

"We're doing good."

"Is Blake coming over?"

"Yep, he's coming over with Kelly and Theodore." I nod positively.

"He is such a lucky guy for you to have, Kehlani. I wish most guys are like that with their children. Have you seen the guys on the Maury Show?" Before Tyler could ramble his mouth, I clear my throat uncomfortably about where he's going with this.

"My bad!" Tyler raises both hands up in a defensive manner.

"Is that my Butternut and my princesses of granddaughters?" Dad queries as he approach us with a genuine elated grin.

"Hi, dad!" I wrap my arms around my dad as he takes me in his arms as I intake his signature redolence of chocolate mixed with cinnamon. I wonder what brand of body wash dad uses because for years, I was figuring out what that pleasant scent was. "Hey, princesses!" Dad beams as his radiant white pearls flash while his arm wrap around Tessa and Harper one at a time. "How are you ladies doing?"

"Good!" Tessa and Harper harmonize.

"Well, that's great because your grandma just made hamburger sliders, hot wings as well as barbecue wings, homemade rice krispy treats, and the rest of the food will be ready in a minute." Dad tells.

"Okay," the girls and I enter mom's living room to take notice the guys and my two nephews are observing the Cheetos commercial with MC Hammer. My smile grows bigger at the sight of MC Hammer and his parachute pants that he's known wearing in the early nineties along with his catchy upbeat tunes like "U Can't Touch This" and "2 Legit 2 Quit".

"MC still got the moves!" Dad chuckles gladden as he reminisces the nineties.

"He still got those parachute pants," Anthony laughs amusingly.

"Yeah! Dad used to wear those ugly ass parachute--" Kevin's sentence is cut off by dad clearing his throat while he gives Kevin this look on his face where his eyes are staring intensely, daring Kevin to finish his sentence in front of him. "I'm not gonna finish the rest of what I'm about to say. Sorry, dad."

"Exactly. And don't curse around my grandchildren, Kevin."

Both Kevin and Anthony turn their heads to Harper, Tessa, and my direction. They have  a smile expanding on their faces. "Hey, baby sis!" Kevin and Anthony greet-- finally! Both of them greet us with hugs while Maxwell and Holden greet me and the girls hugs and kisses on the cheek. "We didn't hear you guys come in." Anthony says.

"That's because you have the volume of the TV all the way up like it's the movies or something." I reply just before a pair of small arms encircle around my legs.
