14| Ignorance

Bulma had brought Whis by to Y/n's bakery. Whis was dying to taste her cupcakes again.

As Y/n walked out bringing a tray of cupcakes, cookies and of course the brownies the won her the affections of the guardian and his lord.

She noticed something strange though, that same man in the orange gi from the party was outside staring through the glass, particularly at Whis.

Y/n placed the tray on the table, "Is there anything else I can get you two?" She asked.

Whis looked down at the menu, "Ooo, could we have soda? It sounds exceptionally tempting," he said. Y/n smiled, "Knock yourself out, it's on the house, we have a soda machine with all kinds of soda," she gestured over to the machine and that ignited an excited spark in Whis's eyes.

Whis looked at Y/n, "Miss, Y/n you've got a quaint little shop here, I'm awfully glad we didn't do away with this planet or I'd miss out on all this!" He said.

Y/n laughed, "Yanno, I didn't recall telling you my name so it comes as a surprise you know it," she said.

Whis held up his staff, "Hm, let's chalk it up to a lucky guess. I know a lot of names," he stated.

Y/n walked off to go get the cups but she wasn't far so they continued talking, "Oh, yeah? Do you know more than just names? I'm just curious, I was asking Buu about Lord Beerus because he's pretty old and he seemed to know a lot but he held back," she said.

Whis looked a little surprised as his staff glowed and suddenly there was an image of Buu, not the Buu she recognized though, he looked younger. It was Kid Buu, Y/n brought back the cups and peered over at what Whis was looking at, "This Buu?" He asked.

Y/n laughed a little, "Aw, that looks like his baby pictures, he's much smaller here," she pointed. Whis shook his head, "Hm, as he appears here, he seems to be over a million years old," he stated. His staff displayed another picture of Buu that was also unfamiliar. "This is more recent, Majin Buu bested the saiyans just over 4 years ago," he said calmly. Y/n felt the opposite of calm though, she felt like something was off here.

"Gee, Buu had a nose 4 years ago?" She asked. 

Whis nodded, "Yes, Majin Buu possesses a technique known as absorption, he absorbed the fighters : Piccolo, Gohan, Goten and Trunks to achieve such a look and the power that came with it, Buu was a force to be reckoned with. After all, he did fashion an extinction attack that wiped out all the humans within seconds, even Beerus had a little more patience with those dinosaurs," he explained. Now a clip was played to show Y/n what really happened.

She saw Buu, then she saw something pink and sludge like detached from Buu creeping from behind rocks, she squinted as she looked harder.

She saw Gotenks, she never knew him but that wasn't the point. Piccolo stood there as well and the pink sludge snuck up on them, engulfing the two and then it panned back to Buu.

Y/n bit her lip because she saw his face, this was the face she grew accustomed to, she saw him everyday, the face that she'd affectionately smooch good morning while she made pancakes, bacon and scrambled eggs for him. The same face that would dawn a worried expression whenever she burned herself, no matter how minor it was and heal it. This was her Buu.

Buu's voice roared, "Now you're mine!" and he drew the pink matter towards himself, it combined with him and he transformed, the horror on the faces of Gohan, Mr. Satan and Dende made her stomach churn.

Once the transformation was over, Buu had whipped the rock with his much longer head tentacle and then flew down to Gohan. Y/n's heart was racing, she just saw Gohan at the party a few days ago, he was nothing like this. This was a different Gohan, in much different circumstances, but was Buu different? What if he was planning to kill her next? She felt worried and uneasy as she watched. She couldn't look away because it hurt and she felt like this had to be some kind of mistake.

Whis wouldn't lie to her though.

Gohan looked at Buu with just as much disgust and told him, "That was a dirty move, you've got no honor," his words laced with anger, "You snuck up on them, they couldn't even fight back," he said.

Buu gave him a smirk, "It's your own fault, kid, I put this plan into motion when I sensed your energy wherever you were, If I could absorb the fusion child to boost my strength it'd make challenging me impossible," he said in a cocky manner. Even his voice was different, it was evil and laced in malice.

"Hm, if you really wanted to become invincible, you should have absorbed me instead," Gohan said.

Buu chuckled at that, "Just as I said before, I'm going to kill you in battle no matter what," he said clenching his fist.

Y/n felt herself breathing heavier and her eyes got glossy.

Y/n trembled as the show went on.

"This fight ends in death," she heard Buu say and that was enough to make her turn her head, "I've seen enough!" She said loudly. Parma was walking out of the breakroom, "Hm- Y/n are you alright, you look like Legume when his allergies are acting up," she said.

Whis nodded, "Are you sure that's all? There's more, he has an extensive history with absorption, he even posses some absorptions as we speak from when he went on that rampage in the world of the kais," Whis stated.

Y/n shook her head and Bulma looked at her, equally as shocked, of course she knew a little but most people who had their memories erased knew nothing, she just happened to know from everyone who lived though it without having lost their memory like Vegeta and Goku.

Bulma reassured Y/n, she placed her hand on her shoulder, "You didn't know, no one does really, there was a wish made by the dragon balls to wipe everyone's memory of Buu, now in hindsight that was a mistake," she said.

Y/n parted her lips to speak but no sound escaped, her loss for words was well founded. Before she could even collect herself the glass shattered as Goku jumped in.

Goku pointed at Y/n and his jaw dropped, "Wait you know, Majin Buu!?" He asked, it ws clear that he was giddy, bursting with excitement even.

Y/n nodded sheepishly.

Goku laughed, "Alright! Can you take me to him!? He owes me a rematch," he said.

Y/n rubbed her arm, she didn't know how to react to all this, to say it was overwhelming was an understatement.

Bulma grabbed Goku's arm, "Goku! You can't seriously be thinking about fighting Majin Buu AGAIN!" She yelled.

Goku rubbed the back of his neck, "Well- Since Whis is here I was hoping he'd let me train with him like Vegeta!" He said.

Parma blinked, "Y/n what have you gotten yourself into now?" She asked with a defeated sigh.

Y/n looked at her then back down, "Oh, it's a long story, c'mon, Goku, I'll take you to my h-" before she could even finish Goku shook his head, "No need! I can sense him, just didn't want to break in, Chi-Chi calls that rude, thanks for permission! Whis, can I train?" He asked.

Whis eyed him rather annoyed but obliged, "Perhaps," which was as close as Goku would get to a yes so his excitement doubled.
