Four days later

Buck began to feel restless, he understood that he wasn't back to his full strength but looking at the same four walls made him feel like he was crawling out of his skin.

He was grateful that he was allowed to go for a walk as long as he had company, everyone from the 118 had walked with him at least once. Today Eddie was bringing Christopher, which Buck was grateful for.

The last round of antibiotics was the previous day, Buck was grateful as he was allowed to wear his own clothes now, rather than the coarse hospital gowns that he was made to wear. He still struggled a bit with the dark red bruising around his ribs, making it difficult to get dressed.

Two days ago

When Eddie had first seen the dark bruising across Bucks torso, his eyes had widened and a slight gasp escaped his mouth.

"I'm so s-"

"Eddie man, it hurts but I understand why you had to do it and ribs heal, I'll be alright"

Buck squeezed his hand reassuringly, he was glad that Bobby had talked to Eddie and convinced him to stay. The anger he'd felt had faded as him and Eddie talked to one another and rebuilt their partnership.

Present day

"You ready Buck"

"Ready as I'll ever be"

Buck steadily rose from the bed, making his way to the door, ruffling Christopher's hair.

"Hey superman"

"Buck, we've been learning about space at school" Christopher was then off talking about his latest knowledge, Buck stored the information for his next research binge. He stared at Eddie, finding him already staring softly at him and Christopher.

They made their way outside, where the bitter breeze made Buck shiver slightly, he felt warmth against his shoulders and nestled closer, Eddie has wrapped his hoodie around him and rubbed a hand between his shoulder blades. Christopher walked off ahead, still in eyesight of his dad.

"Stay with me" Buck gasped at the sudden words leaving his mouth.

"Please, I don't think me or Christopher are ready to let you leave our sights. I understand if we aren't fully resolved and you always have the flat if you need somewhere to escape and have a moment to yourself, it would be easier for you to move around in. You don't have to sat yes, it's your choice but give it a thought before you get discharged"

Buck wanted to say yes, his heart already belonging to the Diaz boys. He decided that he would give it some thought,

"I'll send you a text tomorrow"

Eddie nodded, feeling reassured at the answer. They both stared softly at Christopher who was staring at the hedgehogs that walked across the path in awe before he turned and made his way back to the men, his crutches softly tapping the ground.

"Yous have an adorable family" A nurse, unfamiliar to both Buck and Eddie commented as she walked past them.

"We're n-" Buck began to speak but was stopped by Eddie,

"Thank you"

The nurse smiled as she walked past, Buck stared at Eddie, shocked, he just shrugged his shoulders.

"She's not wrong, Christopher is pretty adorable and so are you"

Buck let the comment go past his head, never really being able to accept complements.
