Ice Cold

Maddies POV

Maddie had been feeling sick the past couple of days. It started during buffridays when she turned her nose up at the king prawn dish from the local Thai restaurant.

"Ugh, that smell is overwhelming. What is it?"

"Maddie, it's the dishes you love. You've got this during every buffriday,"

"I'm gonna have to get some crackers because I can't handle it,"

She put it down to an upset stomach that night, until the morning after when she ran to the toilet and just managed to open the lid before throwing up.

"Hey, hey, it's alright, I'm here." She felt calm by the smooth circles that Chimney was rubbing on her back and was relieved when he tied her hair back for her.

When she got more energy, she lifted her hair up, seeing the golden sun shining through the blinds around his head like a halo, which made her smile. He smiles back and handed her a glass of water with ice, she downed it, glad to wash away the lingering bile from her mouth before placing it on the floor and standing up, moving to her bed.

The next instance was the day later, they were watching Me before You, and Maddie started crying.

"Shhhh, come here, it's alright. I've got you,"

Chimneys arms wrapped around her, and she snuggled into it, sobbing uncontrollably.

"I'm so sorry Chim I'm not normally like this"

"Hey it's alright we all get emotional, it's good that you feel like you can trust me"

The next morning she sat on the bed, the nausea, the emotions, the heightened sense of smell, oh no when was her last period. She opened the app and saw the words,

Your period is 7 days late

Her stomach dropped, she can't be, can she.

She instantly turned to her contacts and clicked her brothers name.

"H-hey Maddie, how are you, I haven't heard from you in a while"

"Evan, I think I might be pregnant"

"W-wh hey congratulations, does Chimney know"

"Not yet but with the symptoms I've been having I think he might have picked up that I haven't been feeling myself"

"Oh, I've got to go to work, hope you manage to tell him and remember. I didn't turn out so bad so you managed to do something right"

"Thank you Evan, love you"

"Anytime Maddie, love you too"

Maddie started preparing herself to go to work, planning on getting a test and taking it when she comes back after her shift.

She wasn't prepared for what was about to happen next

"Guys we have an incident on (insert address), 2 vehicles collided, one unconscious female, and I've just lost contact with the caller" She turned to Maddie after saying the word caller and her stomach dropped.
