Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock.
I'd been staring at the clock for over half an hour now... All but one teacher had left school hours ago, and the only reason any of us were still here was because we were in after school detention.
That wouldn't have usually bothered me at all, but today it was snowing outside and I was hoping to make the most of it. 'Looks like that's not happening!' I thought to myself as I watched the teacher twiddle with a biro, and the clock just tick-tocked on...
Suddenly the big hand reached the twelve, "Time to go." Mr. Shaw, the teacher informed us.
I heard the whole room breathe a sigh of relief and I did the same... It was almost painful remaining that silent for that long!
All six of us stood up in unison and stretched out our aching bodies... Yes, you heard correct, there was only six of us in detention: Carlie Sayer, a six foot, fake tanned barbie doll that I absolutely detested. George Ley, a tall, lanky boy with freckles and ginger hair, who admittedly creeped me out a bit. Daniel Warren who, let's just say, was the only normal guy I had a crush on, but he was also my best friend. And the two brothers, Michael and Sean McCormac, who were complete jerks but extremely good looking... And me. The goodie two shoes that just happened to be in the wrong place, at the wrong time.
(Flashback)
"FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!" the crowd of people chanted loudly.
I pushed through the people in an attempt to see what was going on... When I saw the scene in front of me, I knew that this was a really bad place to be.
My best friend, Lydia was standing opposite Carlie Sayer... And they both looked extremely angry.
"You did that on purpose! You little cow!" Carlie screeched, pointing a long fingernail at Lydia.
"It was your fault for walking into me!" she shouted back, angrily pushing her side-fringe out of her brown eyes.
Suddenly Carlie lunged at Lydia, knocking them both back onto the hard concrete floor.. I saw my best friends head hit the surface with a crack and ran over.
"Get off her!" I yelled at Carlie, "She hit her head!"
The fake barbie whirled on me, "She can die for all I care!" she hissed, digging her claws into my arm.
I could see now that Lydia was unconscious and blood was oozing from the wound... Using all my strength I dug my right knee into Carlie's gut, this sent her flying off my friend.
Bending down to tend to Lydia, I saw that the blood was beginning to pool round her head like a halo and her breathing was becoming shallow...
"Call an ambulance!" I screamed to anyone that would listen.
Everyone remained silent for a moment before someone far away said calmly, "Call an ambulance."
Mr.Shaw, a young teacher with spiked black hair and a slim build stepped out of the throng of teenagers... For a moment he just stood there with his brown eyes wide. The scene in front of him really didn't bode well for me... I was sat, leaning over my best friends blood covered head whilst Carlie was sprawled on the floor, staring at me in mock-horror.
"Miss Taylor... You will report to my room after school for detention." he told me, "As will you Miss Sayer."
Carlie made a noise of disapproval but didn't argue... I just stayed completely silent, watching as my best friend was stretchered away into an ambulance.
(End Flashback)
Both Michael and Sean quickly sped from the room, looking rather shifty... But then again, they pretty much always looked shifty. Like they were constantly up to something they shouldn't be.
