"Chris, what are you doing here?"
*Chris's POV*"Are you seriously not going to have sex with her?" Tara practically screams into the phone as I pick up.
"What?"
"I swear all of you are idiots. Artemis thinks there is something wrong with her."
"Why would she think something foolish like that?"
"Probably because she's been your friend forever and knows your track record with the opposite sex."
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"What was the longest you were seeing someone before you slept with them?" I remained silent, seeing her point. "Exactly. And she knows this and it's hurting her that you apparently don't see her in the same light."
"That's not it at all. She's different than the others."
"I wouldn't tell her that unless you plan on explaining it thoroughly."
"Why did this have to become so complicated?"
"I don't know. I just know that you need to fix it. If you really love her, I don't know what the problem is." Tara finishes before hanging up.
*Present Time*
*Artemis's POV*"Well?"
"I've been a colossal ass."
"What about this time?" I ask, my hands on my hips.
"You do know that I love you, right?"
"I'm not sure. Do I?"
"I guess I deserve that."
I sigh. "I've never once said that you have to jump my bones. But I know you Chris, probably better than you'd like in this moment. And I know that if I had been any other girl, you would have slept with me by now."
"That's just it though. You're not any other girl. I don't want to mess this up with us."
"Chris, we've been seeing each other for two months. At this point you're messing us up more by not doing anything."
Instead of responding he rushes towards me, crashing his lips into mine, shutting the door behind him as he crosses the threshold into the entryway. I can't help the moan that escapes my lips or the wetness that starts to pool at my center. He picks me up and my legs wrap around his waist and I groan as I feel his hardened length rub against my pulsing center.
He walks back to my bedroom and we make quick work of removing our clothes before he covers my body with his own and presses into me.
*The Next Morning*
I wake up to the sound of the shower going and the most delicious ache between my legs. Sighing, I roll over, checking the time. I hear a phone go off and, thinking it's mine, I check it.
What I find sends me into a panic.
Lily:
I had a lot of fun while you were in LA.
I'll let you know the next time I'm in the states. My heart stops and I think, for a moment there, I forgot how to breathe. Did he seriously go see her while he was out of town? I start to panic and in that moment Chris steps out of the bathroom, a towel wrapped around his waist. "Good morning." He says, coming over to kiss me.
I don't reply, leveling him with a cold, hard look as I throw his cellphone onto the bed. "I thought it was my phone going off. I guess I should only blame myself, right?" He reads the text, his eyes widening and the blood draining from his face. "Maybe you were right and we shouldn't have risked our friendship on this. At least if I was only your friend I wouldn't be feeling as dirty as I do now."
"Arty, this isn't what it looks like."
"Do you even hear how lame and overdone that excuse is? This isn't what it looks like... Are you forgetting that she's the one that you needed to start a fake relationship for? She's the reason we're in this mess."
"Artemis, I swear, I didn't sleep with her."
"I don't care. You were with her in some capacity. You need to get out."
"I'm not leaving until we can talk this through."
"I can't do this with you! Ok, you were right. This, us, being in a relationship, it wasn't going work out. So, you have to leave soon for press and I have a huge wedding that needs my attention. Maybe by the time you get back I'll be able to talk about this but for now, I need to be alone."
He looks at me sadly before getting dressed and leaving. As the front door shuts I crumble to the floor, sobs wracking my body.
