They stop the car in the middle of the road and they all stare out the windows.
"You know, I never enjoyed it." Five speaks up.
"What?"
"The killing. I mean, I was...I was good at my work and I took pride in it. But it never gave me pleasure." Five reassures which made Ashlinn feel a little better.
"I think it was all those years alone. Solitude can do funny things to the mind." Five says and Ashlinn scoffs lightly. She didn't want to admit it, but she knew that all too well. She thinks back to her teenage years with the academy and then everything after that. After her parents, then Ben, she was alone. Even after the academy. When Ashlinn zoned back in she didn't even realize that she missed half the conversation.
"I've lived a long life, but...you're still a young man. You got your whole life ahead of you. Don't waste it." Five looks at Luter before looking out the windscreen. What the fuck kind of conversation did Ashlinn miss?
"And Ashlinn, don't do anything stupid. Like getting shot. I need you alive a little longer." Five says and Ashlinn rolls her eyes.
"What? Luther's got his whole life ahead of him, but I just need to say alive to your convenience?" Ashlinn crosses her arms and Five shrugs.
"Pretty much."
"And by the way shorty, the only reason I was shot last time was because of you."
Before any more words were spoken, a car drove down the road opposite them.
"Here we go," Five says before they all got out of the car as the other car drove past them and came to a stop.
"If this all goes sideways, do me a favour and tell Dolores I'm sorry." Five says and Luther nods as the masked people walk towards them.
Five approaches them any they begin to talk. Ashlinn watches as they take their masks off, and then they point a gun at Five. Ashlinn was about to walk up to them to defend Five but Luther held her back. She sighed before trying to listen to their conversation, but she couldn't make out much. Eventually, the woman lowers her gun and she walks over to the payphone, the man also takes a few steps back and Five walks back over to Luther and Ashlinn.
"What now?" Ashlinn asks as Five continued to look at Hazel and Cha-Cha.
"Now, we wait."
Ashlinn leans up against the door of the car with her arms crossed. There was a moment or two of silence before a melody could be heard in the distance. An ice-cream truck melody. Ashlinn pushes herself off of the car and her arms slowly unfold as she watches an ice-cream truck approach. Everyone watches in confusion as the truck became closer and closer.
"Is that her?" Luther asks but his question was answered when they saw Klaus waving at them through the window of the truck.
"What the fuck..." Ashlinn mutters as the truck passes.
"The hell is he doing here?" Five asks as the truck approaches Hazel and Cha-Cha. Suddenly, the sound of gunshots filled the air and Ashlinn silently curses to herself. Back to being shot at.
She and Five try to take cover behind Luther as bullets flew their way. Everything was happening so fast until...
Freeze
Everything was frozen in place. Five looked around to see what was going on.
"Ashlinn?" He went to poke her but ultimately decided against it. He came out from behind Luther and he walked forward, getting a good look at his surroundings.
