And with that, Christmas had been celebrated...
You all spent the rest of the day drinking booze and well, being drunk~
Undoubtedly Sam and Dean had an errand to take care of on new year's so celebration wasn't an option. Though thanksgiving and Christmas went well, better than you could hope for; so you couldn't pout too much when they had to go.
The silence wasn't soothing, so you do something you knew would fill that tiny void of emptiness. At least for the moment.
Grabbing the speaker from deans' room, you place it onto the library table. You run your fingers over the spines of the books on the bookshelf. Most of them are in languages you don't speak. The few you could understand Sam already gave you the run down on.
Walking away from the shelf you sit yourself down on the wood chair. 'hmm'
You turn on the speaker and pull your phone out of your pocket. Making the connection between both devices quick you make your way to the music app. Indecisive as usual, you scroll until a song sparks an interest. 'there' tapping your finger on the screen to "simple man" by Lynyrd Skynyrd. familiarity of the song allowing you to hum along.
You dance-walk your way to the archive room in hope of finding some interesting material to read. 'Only some of the boxes are labeled' the room was practically ridded of its files. Sam's doing that's no doubt. Shutting the door with frustration you go to sam's room in hopes of finding the files He's been hoarding..
The door squeaks as it opens. Placing yourself ever so gently in his room you glance around looking for the papers though they're nowhere to be seen. 'Must be under his bed' you think as you walk closer to the bed. Before kneeling down to search underneath something catches your eye. The journal you gave him was sitting on his night stand with a black pen, the sight bringing a smile to your face. But beside it was a journal you haven't seen before; it was had worn leather as its covering, obviously old, it had all sorts of sticky notes and tabs coming out. 'hmm' not much for burglary or invasion of privacy you hesitate, though ultimately failing as curiosity gets to you. The leather feels rough and cool against your fingers. Moving the flap aside you begin reading. 'Seems like lore, lots of it' now this is some interesting material. You cast your guilt aside as
it isn't Sam's diary but more so a bestiary. The music grows louder as you walk back into the library, bon Jovi's "you give love a bad name" now playing through the speaker. 'let's do this' as you place the book down on the table and take a seat, you ready yourself. Your eyes graze over the first page the music stops, only to be interrupted by your phone being occupied by a phone call. Annoyance fills you as you stand back up to your seat to check who the caller is. "Theo?!" the annoyance quickly turning into excitement as you answer the call.
"Hey Theo!!" you exclaim as you answered the phone.
"Hey sweetheart!"
'Sweetheart?' his sweetness causing a hard thump of your heart. "what's up? Something come up?" you say smoothly.
"No nothin much, nothin out of your league." he assures, you can hear the sound of his leather jacket rubbing against other parts of his vest. "Vetala sighting in Colorado, it's Close to the both of us maybe Wanna check it out?"
"For sure!" you said, your voice high and pitchy. The opportunity finally came and you weren't about to let it pass you by.
"Ok sounds good sweet thing, I'll be there soon. Be ready for me alright?"
Another hard thump drummed out of your chest.
"I'll be waiting Theo" you say sweetly. The call hangs up leaving you stunned in place. "vetala?" the name didn't ring a bell in your head so you rush back over to the leather journal you took from Sam's room. "vetala, vetala, vetala." you say flipping the pages, hoping to find some of the creature's lore. "There!"
The writing is rough and sort of hard to read.
[Vetalas drain the blood from their victims, a
Vetala's bite marks on their human victims resemble the marks of a vampire attack.Vetala appear to have enhanced strength.
They can be killed by being stabbed in the heart with a silver knife which then must be twisted once to kill them.]
'It isn't much but it's enough' you re-read the page a few times letting the words stick in your head before you go pack.
You hurry to Empty out the duffle from your last hunting trip and pack up; some clothing, your gun and the silver knife you were gifted by dean. As you look around the room trying to make sure you didn't need to pack anything else, your eyes find its way to the gift Sam gave you. 'perfect' that'd be sure to have whatever else you needed to know for the hunt.
Flipping the book open you glide your finger over the index page 'vetala' just as you thought, they have fought one. The book makes its way into your duffle and you deem yourself packed up. "Now what to wear..." if the hunt is gonna be rough like you assume then it's gonna be denim and leather. You undress and put on the thick denim jeans that hug your legs, a black v neck with the leather jacket that has been sitting in a backpack for the past few months. The jacket was thick and lined with insulating material so you had to be sure not to wear it on warm days, though the winter weather hasn't passed yet so wearing a jacket served more than one purposes today.
Your phone buzzes on the counter, Theo. Your core shakes in both excitement and nervousness
Theo: I'm outside.
'Already? Fuck me...'
You: be outside in a bit 😊
You circle your room around trying to remember if you missed anything. Pacing wasn't helping so you accepted the fact that you weren't going to feel ready no matter how much you prepared. You grabbed your go bag and made your way to the bunker stairs.
'Ok ok I got this'. As you walk up the steps you pause, taking in deep breaths before opening the door. You open it with haste, blinded by the suns light. You can hear a truck door open as you blink your eyes to adjust.
"hey" he says, getting out of the truck. You hadn't noticed his accent before, southern? "Need help with that?"
You clear your throat before answering "no no I got it, thank you" you say as he stands In front of you. his blond hair is longer than you remember; It wasn't too apparent since he had It slicked to the side. You give him a subtle look up and down before going to hug him. "Thank you, I've been cooped up in there for what felt like an eternity." you say giving a light hearted chuckle.
He nods. "The knight who has to save the princess that's been locked in her tower." he smiles as he gestures to the car.
"Only this time, fighting the dragon will be a team effort." you play on. He chuckles, opening your car door for you, you nod in thanks; getting in the car...
