You could feel yourself dozing off next to the tall ghoul, your head grazing his shoulder each time your head nodded, you weren't sure if Swiss had noticed but you were too tired to study his actions. Your arm was still lazily wrapped around his, which was holding onto the blanket on both of you. The only noise was the tv and soft hums of amusement each time a cheesy scene came on in the scary movies.
Swiss looked over to you, "Not falling asleep already, are you?" His loud voice caused you to wake up fully and look at him. You shook your head and looked over to the tv, widening your eyes to try not to fall back asleep. He laughed and reached up to push your head on his shoulder, "You can sleep, you goof. I'm just teasing." He stretched out his legs, onto the coffee table where all different kinds of junky snack foods were spread across it lazily. Popcorn was on the table, empty bottles of soda and other favorite drinks. You watched a few movies already, talking in between about other movies you had seen when you were young.
Thoughts of the tall red haired woman filled your thoughts, you couldn't stop thinking about her. You had never seen her before, and it was the most strange interaction you had since you got there. Swiss noticed your change in energy, looking down at you. Your hands anxiously twisted and pulled at the blanket on top of the both of you.
"Hey, what's wrong?" his voice cut off the silence, shifting on the couch to sit up properly. You looked out the window to the dark clouds, rain sliding down the window. A perfect rainy night to watch movies.
After a deep inhale, you spoke up, "A lady came up to me today, telling me," you paused, unsure how to make it as least insulting as possible, "to not trust this place." You looked over at the ghoul's expressionless mask, only Swiss's eyes staring back at you. Usually, you could read his expression through his eyes, but this time you couldn't. It felt different from other times you both met eyes. Anger? Did he feel just as awkward as you telling him this?
"Who? Did she tell you her name?" He asked, no emotion, same as his eyes.
You felt nervous around him like this, not in the normal shy way, but the way that maybe you shouldn't have said something kind of way. "Uhm, no," you responded, clenching your jaw before hesitating to describe what she looked like, "But, she had red hair and, scars?" You finally said, your voice getting quieter as you spoke. Your finger tapped on your leg, begging for swiss to say something. He just sat there, his eyes darting out to the dark window, a low ruble of thunder breaking the silence. Suddenly, he stood up, wiping off his clothes.
He sighed, crossing his arms, "Listen, if you ever see her again, don't listen to anything she says." His voice sounded stern, you had never heard him like this, it was drastically different from how he usually is, bubbly and playful. You sat up on the couch, confused as to why he would say something like that. Did he know her?
"What, wait, what happened? Do you know who she is?" You asked frantically.
He looked away, sighing again, "I don't think I can tell you that, I'm sorry." He walked over to the bed, sitting down. He reached up under his mask, rubbing along his jaw.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to bring up something I shouldn't. It's just been on my mind." you explained, placing your hands on the back of the couch, watching him sit on your bed.
"It's not your fault, don't apologize. Just be safe and if you run into her again, come and find me. You should tell Papa about this too. I'll come with you tomorrow." He looked over again to you, watching you nod at his words, a worried expression still on your face. "She's not a good person, I don't want her to hurt you too."
You gripped the fabric of the couch, "Too?" Swiss just shook his head, crossing his arms.
"I'll tell you when the time is right, hun." The nickname put you at ease, he was back to his self, not as serious as he was. He perked up, like he had an idea. "I know what'll brighten up this weird mood. Do you like stargazing?" He asked, but he didn't really care about your answer, already standing up and wanting to go.
