To anyone that doesn't know my updating schedule, I want to say that I post daily. (As of right now) School did start recently for me, so it might be a little hard to keep up posting every day, but I promise I will try my best. Anyways that's it, have fun reading!
I had almost fallen asleep when I heard rustling sounds coming from the sleeping bag next to me. Fitz.
I squinted my eyes in the dark and watched as he climbed out of his sleeping bag and quietly left the room. I felt back following him and spying, but I needed to see what the heck he was doing.
So I got out of my sleeping back as quickly as I could without waking anybody, and then I followed Fitz out of the zoom.
He turned a couple of corners, and it was difficult for me to stay close enough that I knew where we were going, but far enough that he wouldn't notice me.
Finally he stopped at the kitchen, and reached from a half eaten prattles box on the counter. He took a seat at the dining table and started eating them, completely zoning out into space.
He looked so... Defeated. I couldn't just leave him like this. He needed someone to talk to. Someone to lean on. And that someone... Would be me.
"Hey, Fitz," I whispered, walking over to him. He was startled at first, but then patted the seat next to him, "You, okay?" I asked.
He sighed, "Truth is, Marella, ever since I met Sophie I thought she was the one for me. But when we started dating I screwed it up, now Sophie's with Keefe. And normally I'd at least be a little jealous but I'm... I'm not. I'm more like..." He paused, thinking of the right word, "Confused."
I scrunched my eyebrows together, "What are you saying?"
"I'm saying..." He took a deep breath, "I'm saying I don't think Sophie's the one for me anymore. I think she made the right choice to be with Keefe. I'm saying that there's someone else that I've been getting close too. Someone with blonde hair and baby blue eyes. I'm saying that sometimes I'll stay up till 1:00 am talking to a beautiful girl, who actually gets me. You're the only one that's ever understood me. And... I'm saying that... I think I've fallen for you."
Wait. WAIT. WAIT. WAIT. Did FITZ just say he was falling for... ME?! Okay, keep it cool Marella. Keep it cool.
"I've actually fallen for you too, Fitz. When I first met you, I thought you were just some handsome guy at foxfire, but now I realize you're so much more than that. My whole life I've been looking for someone to understand. Whether it be a friend or... A boyfriend. I never thought it would be you, Fitz. But... I felt someone in that kiss, you know?" I beamed.
Fitz grinned, "I did too. And I watch you to know I'm not just saying this because I'm trying to get over Sophie. I really, truly, have fallen for you Marella, even without realizing it. I was so caught up in Sophie I barely even noticed the way you made me feel just being around you. Maybe it took Sophie and Keefe getting together for my blind eyes to finally see it, but I like you Marella. I like you a lot. And if you don't want to be with me, then I don't think I'll end up with anyone."
A huge smile spread across my face and blush dotted my cheeks, "Of course I want to be with you, Fitz. I really like you. Like, a lot."
We both continued staring at each other for a long time. Then I started to feel tired again, and I yawned.
"Oh, you should get some rest. I'll meet you back at the sleepover room in a couple minutes," Fitz suggested.
I didn't want to leave him, but he was right. I was exhausted, "Okay, see you in the morning."
"See you in the morning, Marella."
And then he gave me a quick electric kiss on the cheek. And if left my heart melting as I skipped off to bed.
