Katie and Cassie sighed at the same time as they impatiently waited for their coffee. Both of them woke up with the painful realization it was their time of the month. Being on the same cycle is what sold them on being best friends. They figured it was simply meant to be.

But anyone who faced them got one hell of a greeting, especially if it was before they got a sip of their coffee.

After getting their drinks, they found a table and sat down with a huff. They each took a sip and sighed in near relief. "Oh christ," Katie sighed. Cassie raised an eyebrow at her. Katie, who was facing the entrance, gestured behind Cassie. "Here comes your perfect boyfriend."

Cassie turned in time to see Ben stroll in and go up to order his coffee. Once he was done, he took a step back and looked around. When he spotted Cassie, his smile practically lit up the room.

"Ugh, I love and hate how much that man loves you," Katie grumbled into her coffee cup.

Ben was over in a few strides. "Hello, Katie, darling." He put a kiss on her head that Katie blushed at. "And hello, my darling." He placed a kiss on Cassie's forehead. "How are you feeling?" He smoothed his hand down her hair.

He of course knew about her situation after this morning's events. She had suddenly snapped at him during breakfast, then started crying immediately after. The poor man was at a complete loss of what was going on. When he asked, he got more tears and the more than reasonable explanation.

"Fine, I suppose," she sighed. "Still in pain." She winced at a cramp in her lower abdomen as soon as she said that.

They called for Ben's order and he grabbed it at the front before settling himself next to Cassie. She leaned on him and put her head on his chest as she groaned in misery. "I know, darling, I'm so sorry. I wish there was more I could do."

He put his hand over her lower abdomen and kissed her head.

"Hey, at least you know you're not pregnant," Katie said with a smirk. That got Ben and Cassie to stiffen up and shift a little uncomfortably in their seats. "I'm kidding! God, you two are so high strung."

Cassie huffed out a genuine laugh and shook her head. Her smile suddenly dropped when she saw Mads walk through the back entry of the café. "Oh great."

Katie looked over her shoulder and immediately rolled her eyes. "Ignore her." As she said that, they all made eye contact with her. Mads scoffed and rolled her eyes at them as she sauntered past their table.

The moment Ben and Cassie got their relationship sorted with the school, it spread like wildfire that they were together. This was all thanks to Mads. Cassie thought it would be kind to inform Mads about it since she was the one who was trying to hard to seduce Ben. She even openly admitted to making Ben hire Wyatt Jenkins instead of her and apologized for it.

Mads is not a forgiving person, however. She took everything Cassie said personally. From not telling her about Ben in Mexico to sabotaging her chances with him. Cassie asked if telling her would have made a difference in how she approached Ben and Mads proudly stated that it wouldn't have.

Katie lost it at that point and told Mads off for being such a terrible friend. Cassie went to Ben that night in a rage and he spent the entire night listening to her vent. She eventually fell asleep from exhausting herself and Ben had developed a new disdain for Mads.

The news of their relationship was out the very next day and it didn't take much to find out who it was. The worst part in Cassie's eyes, however, is that Ben was assigned to teach a lower level of English this semester, due to another professor quitting. Mads was supposed to be in that professor's class.
