The day had come to an end. Everyone had gone back to their respective rooms and they all were in bed tucked in tight, drifting into sleep. Well... almost everyone. Across from Scarlet in the girl's dorm lay Evie, whose eyes shone brightly in the darkness. She looks worried and apprehensive as she stares out into nothing.
After a while of this, she turned in her bed to take a look at Scarlet, who lay looking more peaceful than she had ever looked before.
She still, Evie notices, has worry lines and a stoney look about her.
"What are you doing?" The young girl is snapped from her spaced out gaze by the figure's rough voice. Evie freezes in shock at being caught staring despite Scarlet's eyes being closed. How had she known? Had she awoken from her sleep? Or was she always awake? That was one thing you'd have to accept when dating Scarlet. You never know what's truly going on with her, no matter how deep you dig. Dating... Another thing Evie found herself struggling with, are they dating or not? With anyone else the answer would probably be yes but Scarlet wasn't just anybody.
"What?" She sounded again. Evie made an effort to respond this time, "Nothing, just can't sleep." Scarlet's eyes snap open, the luminescent shining brighter than the girl's across from her. "Tell me." Evie looks down at the pink rug trailed under her bed. She looks back up to make eye contact with the green voids. "What are we?" Scarlet becomes stiff, more so than she already was. "What do you mean?"
'Okay, this is going to be difficult.' Evie thinks. She moves to lean forward slightly and opens her mouth. Nothing comes out. Closing her mouth, she makes another attempt. Still nothing. The sound of silence takes over the two before the raven-haired girl speaks up.
"I don't know what you want me to be. Or why you want me to be it. Tell me." Evie becomes more awkward, "I just want to be with you. Maybe...be my..." She feels too embarrassed to say it. On the Isle homosexuality isn't practiced often. Not because it's looked down upon, well, not for the reason you'd think. But because love, in general, is seen as weak and undesirable and the only reason the villains get together is to produce offspring. So being gay is seen as bad because it's a sign of love, which is frowned upon. The young girls had never seen it before and found themselves in a state of worry about what could become of them.
Scarlet finishes for her, "You want me to be your girlfriend?" Evie gives a nonverbal nod. "Okay." This makes the blue-haired girl's eyes almost bulge, "Okay? Just, okay?" Scarlet blinks slowly as if to say 'yes'. Despite the lack of romance she had been expecting from her first-ever partner, Evie accepts her answer. "Are you okay now?" Her now-girlfriend asks. "Yeah." She responds. "It's getting late. We'll have a big day tomorrow, you know, getting Mal her man. We need to rest" Scarlet playfully adds before turning over. Finally at peace with the answer, Evie closes her eyes.
