"Harry I just don't think he should've yelled at her like that" Anne said, kind of frustrated "So he should've just let her be a homophobic shit" "Harry! She's your great grandmother" "She's an asshole!" he said, raising his voice "Look, all I'm saying is she's old. It would've been less problematic if he just let it go"
Harry just ignored her and walked off, slamming his door behind him. I think it goes without saying that Anne wasn't very happy when she found out about Louis yelling at her grandmother. It had caused drama in the family, and everyone was very upset with Anne for letting that 'devious boy' come to the family gathering. Which in turn made Anne upset, as she hadn't known about the incident till being called by her sister (who's party it was) yelling at her about it.
Of course she hadn't agreed with what her grandmother said, but the way she grew up, you ignore things that bother you. Which is why family gatherings were so miserable to Harry, cause everyone secretly hated each other and had built up anger from years of ignoring problems.
Louis however definitely did not, he always stands up for himself and his loved ones (according to Louis, he got it from his mother. But Harry could never imagine Jay being anything but calm)
Anne sighed and sat down at the table next to her. She feels bad that Louis was treated that way, but she's never seen the reason to throw a tantrum over a disagreement. Just agree to disagree, especially at louis' first family outing. Don't get her wrong, she adores Louis and how much he stands up for Harry, but now her family is mad at her.
You never realize how homophobic your family is until your sons gay. The realization starts to sink in that maybe she was wrong, maybe Louis is in the right here, maybe she shouldn't have started an argument with Harry, maybe she should've told off her family for treating him that way.
She walks up to Harry's door and knocks reluctantly "Harry" she almost whispers "I have nothing more to say to you" Harry says through the door, and she can hear some rustling. She soon discovers it was Harry hurrying to put on his shoes.
He walks out the door and pushes past her "Where are you going?" "To Louis'" he says quickly "Harry please, I'm sorry" she says, going after him "it was unfair for me to put this on him, it's not his fault, and I know th-" she started, before being cut off outside of Harry's car.
"Do you know how excited louis was to meet our family? Do you how much he adores you? Do you know that he apologized to me after sticking up for himself? Do you know how much it kills me that our family doesn't love like his does? I feel so safe around his family, everyone is so joyful and sweet, and ours bottles up all their feelings until they can take it out on MY boyfriend" Harry is now crying, and before Anne can say anything else, he's already closed the door and started to drive off.
Once at Louis' house, he walks up to the door and knocks, still crying. Jay answers "Harry! I wasn't expecting you. I- what's wrong baby?" she said, looking concerned at Harry "I got into a fight with my mom" he cried on her shoulder "oh darling, I'm so sorry" Jay said, hugging him tightly.
"Louis' not here right now, but you can come in if you'd like. We can talk about it, or the girls are watching princess and the frog if you want to join them. I'll make you tea" she says into the hug, and Harry just smiles "I'd like that a lot actually".
After telling Jay everything, she gives him advice and they settle down to watch princess and the frog the twins. For the first time in the past few hours, he feels perfectly content.
Once Louis comes home, he's a little shocked to find Harry in the living room combing Lottie's hair and laughing. He stands in awe watching how much his sisters love him, until Harry looks over making eye contact "Lou your home!" Harry smiles, and Louis won't lie, he felt a little excited for his future in this moment.
