KATE HAD STILL yet to break her eyes away from Henry receiving his tattoo from Dr. Brenner.

She didn't know what to think. Kate almost felt like her senses were completely overloaded with everything she'd just learned: Henry Creel hadn't died in 1959 with his sister and mother. Henry Creel was a murderer. Henry Creel was alive. Henry was the first subject of the lab and Dr. Brenner's, was One, and had been the reason why all of the other subjects were gone. He had killed them. Her heartbeat seemed to pound in her head, making everything hurt even more.

Kate needed to get out of her own head right now.

Brenner finally put down the tattoo needle, wiping at the numeric tattoo now on Henry's left wrist. "All done. Not so bad, was it? See? There's nothing to be afraid of." Brenner paused, almost in anticipation. "Is there, Kate?"

She took a step back with the call of her own name. She hadn't been able to interact with anyone in these visions thus far, and she didn't think it was a good sign that Brenner had started to speak to her by name. When she looked into his eyes again, this time glazed over and like he'd been possessed by Vecna, she felt frozen in place.

His voice, as he spoke, began to sound distorted, more like Vecna's. "Why don't you take a seat?"

Without a second thought, Kate made a run for it down one of the halls of Hawkins Lab. She tried not to think about the numerous bloodied bodies that seemed to litter the hallway, the children that had been killed by Henry, but she couldn't block out the screams. Their screams. As the lights flickered around her, surging as she ran, she looked for any possible way out.
