Her new turquoise eye was definitely worth the pain of being flirted with by several mediocre middle aged men. She doubted it would be enough to keep any suspicion off of her if she ever ran into Shouto or Endeavour, or if that kid Kaseya who was supposedly her cousin decided to dig into family history. So the girl was currently on her way to a supermarket, one on the side of the city where the better off lived. It was on the way to her weekend job anyways, so it wasn't a wasted transit ticket.

The bus screeched to a stop in front of a shopping center and Kamiko wasted no time pushing through the surprisingly crowded vehicle, usually there wasn't an overwhelming amount of people taking transit on sundays. Usually people would be at home, spending time with their families, something the pink haired teen was often jealous of. She shook off her negativity and made her way through the mall, searching for a drugstore. When she finally found one, she squinted, eyes slowly getting used to the light bouncing off of the white walls. She took her time strolling through the long aisles, enjoying the time she had without any of the many weird people often seen lurking around the stores on her side of town.

There was a slight problem though, when she had decided she wanted to dye her hair, she never actually chose a colour. With so many different boxes filling the multiple shelves of the aisle, it was hard to even know where to start looking through them. Not red. No way in hell would she sport the colour that haunted that back of her mind at any given time.

Red was the colour on the box that she faced after turning around at the calling of her name. Kirishima. He was also dying his hair. Red.

"Hori! Hey, are you okay there? You look like you've seen a ghost. What do they look like?"

"What?"

"Oh, good. You're back, thought I lost you for a second there."

"...Kirishima..?"

"The one and only!"

"You do know that's your family name, right?"

"Well I am the only one that you know."

"Are you dying your hair too? What colour? I'm doing mine red! I might be going a bit far though, dying my hair the same colour as my favourite pro. What do you think?"

The same colour as his favourite pro hero? Currently there was only one well known hero with that hair colour. The girl frowned, maybe she judged his character too quickly, he seemed like a good teen. What was she doing? No one knows of what Endeavour had done to his own flesh and blood -that she had to remember. No one would like him if they knew, probably not many villains would support a lot of that. Sure, some of them were pretty bad, most of them maybe. But the other villains were victims of similar abuse, that's what led them to their path. Oh gods. She was overanalyzing again, she should really stop all the inner monologues.

"Crimson riot! He's so manly, isn't he?!"

Oh.

"I've never heard of him, is he underground?"

"Nope, but he was pretty famous a while back. So I don't blame you for not knowing him. Who's your favourite pro?"

"Uhm, probably All Might, I don't really pay much attention to pro heroes."

"Wow. That's a really weird thing to hear from someone going to Yuuei. Good choice though, he's number one for a reason!"

"Yeah." She plucked a silvery-gray box off of the shelf, it was a nice enough colour. If she didn't like it, she could always buy a new colour. It might hurt her wallet though. "Well, I'll see you at school maybe."

"Yeah! Wait what class are you in? I'm in one-a!"

"I don't actually know..."

"What? How is that even possible, you already know you got in."

"I couldn't figure out how to get the hologram to replay. The letter only had the school's rules and requirements, along with the hero costume submission form."

They both walked to the self checkouts, standing in a line with a couple other customers. "Do you mind telling me the time? I uh, forgot my phone." She hadn't, but telling someone that her phone was so ancient that it didn't have a functioning clock? Well she wasn't quite prepared for the ridicule. Kirishima didn't seem like the type to participate in that kind of mockery, but no chances were to be taken.

"It's eleven thirty-one."

Panic coursed through her veins, rushing through her bloodstream, activating the infamous "fight or flight" mode button in her head. She must've looked the part too, because her raven-haired companion glanced at her curiously. She cursed herself for breaking the facade. How would she ever survive around family members if she found herself in their presence?

"I have a shift to get to in less than half an hour."

"Oh. Good luck then."

~

Good luck did no good. She was late by ten minutes and lectures spoken by hospital staff are never enjoyable. She was handed a clipboard with patients' names and room numbers, the lecture had ended as quickly as it had begun.

Kamiko signed up for the job at the young age of thirteen, as soon as she got the information that it was in fact the hospital where her mother was sent. As much as she was traumatised by her mother, she never once blamed her and this time Endeavour couldn't prevent the two females from seeing each other. She made sure to have Mrs. Todoroki scheduled to be the last on her list of visitations, that way she could spend extra time with her without impacting anyone else's time with her.

Getting the job was probably the best thing that could've happened to the girl. Not only because she was able to spend time with her mother, although that was her favourite part. The socialisation greatly benefitted her during her time of transition from a strict home to the endless amount of freedom that came with living by herself. She had never gone to public school, both her and her twin were given their lessons at home. When she went to public school under her new name, she felt disconnected from her peers. That feeling may have come from the lack of interactions she had as a child, or from the experiences that matured her before she was even a teenager. Either way, it really didn't matter, adults were much easier to interact with than those near her in age.

"So guess what happened mom."

"Hmm... did you and your brother almost burn down the house again?"

"What? No. No, that was one time. He's got better control of his quirk now. You don't have to worry. Anyways, I'm going to Yuuei for highschool. Also I'm dying my hair, just in case Shouto's in the same class as me. It's gonna be silver, or gray, I don't know which one it'll turn out to be more like."

"Oh. So that's why both of your eyes are the same colour now. Are you wearing a contact?"

"Uhh... yeah." There was no way her mother wouldn't worry if she told her she altered it with the help of a perverted old man. Or that she had turned into a grown woman for six hours to work for it.

"You're not planning on letting him know that you're okay, he may believe that you're dead. Even if you're not, please keep a good eye on him and tell me how he's doing. I'm sure that you'll know more about him by being in the same school, he never wants to talk about anything with Fuyumi, and Natsuo's moved away for college by now. Maybe he'll speak to his classmates..."

"I doubt he'll open up to random people who might use his words against him. That highschool's a bit of a competitive place you know."

"Yes. I do know what heroes are like because of competition."

"Sorry..."

"It's fine, but did you speak to Maria? Her sister from America came to visit this past week. Oh, she brought these wonderful pastries from the market. They were cream filled..."
